Some owners of the 2024 Oulander PHEVs are starting to receive these letters from Mitsubishi

What a waste of Paper and Postage.

Mitsubishi must know that the operating range of the Lithium-Ion Batteries is between -20'C to 60'C so their failure to add a Battery Heater to the Battery Pack is what may cause damage to the Battery Pack, not whether we plug in the car or not because once the Battery is fully charged no more charge will be accepted.

So no heating of the Batteries will be possible. Mitsubishi Motors knows this very well.

This may be the last Mitsubishi Product that I Purchase if Mitsubishi Motors continues to try to take us for fools.

The Battery Pack requires a Battery Heater so the car can utilize the Battery Management System that the 2022 and older models have had since the PHEV have been on the road.

Most Small Claims Courts are capped at between $5,000 and $10,000 anywhere in Canada, not sure of the cap limit in any of the 50 States of the USA.

Edit:

Just found out that as of Jan 1 2025. The maximum Small Claims Court Limit will $20,000
Much to low for the cost of our cars at $60,000 plus
My Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is 2018 and still the odometer is 45,000..I also experienced the Cabin heating issue and took it to the dealership where they replaced the air filter. (I had to pay for that since I am the second owner. According to them the original warente expired when the vehicle is sold to the second owner) However the problem is still there. I wonder whether I would experience the cold start issue in the future. (Till today the temperature of Nova Scotia did not drop below 17C⁰. ). However I suggest we can go to the courts as a team if we all agree and claim this issue against Mitsubishi.

The dealer is bul**hit. The warranty belongs with the véhicule not with the owner. This being said, the air filter is a maintenance item for which there is no warranty. Furthermore, your véhicule is out of the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. So, the cabin heater issue is not covered anymore. In the end, I guess the dealer had no warranty obligation, but told to you the wrong reason.

Phev07, I see weather forecast in Winnipeg is -25C. I feel for you. Hope the Outlander does not let you down.
Thank you.

Will be driving it shortly to go home.

Tomorrow it is going down to -30'C but warming up a bit for Sunday

I will report any issues.

Fingers crossed.

Engine started fine Battery Temperature gauge was about 1/16" to the right of the left blue mark. Battery SOC displayed _ _ _

Turtle Mode on during my 10 minute drive and Heat out of air vent hit 30'C but Cab Temperature was only 4'C. Had Heated Seats and Steering on along with rear window defroster on.

This morning: ambient temperature was -11C. Outlander was not plugged in, and hadn't been plugged for 36 hours at least. Battery SOC was displaying 7/8 full, and a range estimate of 46 km. Turned on power to accessories, and forced EV mode. Turned off cabin heat, but left seat heater on. Then pressed the brake pedal and turned on main power. The ICE started immediately even though I had forced EV mode. Did a small 2 km ride from home to pick up some groceries. On my way back , about half way in the 2 km return trip home, the ICE shut down, and I was on EV mode. Ambient temperature was still -11 C.

Checked the battery temperature upon first start, the gauge was just dead on the left blue marker. When I got back home ( 4 km ride total), the battery temperature gauge was slowly creeping to the right of the left blue marker. This would explain why the ICE was enabled to shut down by itself, and was running on EV mode.

I am getting to understand better the behavior of this machine.

I parked my car at midnight last night. Temperature was -22'C at the time and went down to -24'C.

I had left the car unplugged and had 1 notch lower than 1/2 of SOC.

At 3:10pm I pressed start. Took 1st photo, pressed Brake Pedal and EV Button and car started fine and let car warm up for 10 minutes to warm up the cab.

Drove car 2km to go to Church. ( Yep you read that right 4pm Mass) turned off car and got message that Baterry was cold to plug in charger. I did not cause I was not at home

At 5:05pm I started car again. Went grocery shopping and drove to girlfriend's place at 6pm

Temperature still -23'C. Battery Temp gauge just a hair past the Blue line
