Dash Cams

Not quite a PHEV topic, but worth asking. Anyone have experiences and preferences on HD dashcams? looking for something that will incorporate an "energy sensor" to automatically prevent over-writing in the event of an accident. Also with GPS data for speed/date/time/location.

Just bought a Nextbase 402G which gets good reviews. Unable to use it yet as the separate SD card hasn't turned up yet. But it's wired in, set up, and ready to go.

I have cheapo Mobius cams front and rear of my Phev which work for me, but they have no GPS. They run whenever power or acc are on and have provided good footage of an incident to Police.

I have purchased Mobius also and was wondering if it can be hard wired to lights above the "rear view mirror" to make a neater installantion ?

I have purchased Mobius also and was wondering if it can be hard wired to lights above the "rear view mirror" to make a neater installantion ?

Beyond my expertise to hard wire. I velcro front cam angled up slightly on the flat surface below the windscreen, with the wire tacked to the dash and powered off a USB and double socket splitter in the front cubby hole. The rear is velcro-ed to the rear-most interior light and the wire is fed round to the socket in the cubby hole between the front seats. Not too obtrusive and easy to remove to download footage as necessary.
