Hi Everyone, I am just wondering if anyone else is having the PHEV System fault. I have a brand new Outlander and in the past 2 months. This fault has occurred 3 X. Twice it has occurred on the highway with the vehicle losing power. Very unsafe! I have brought it to the shop. 1st time they said it was the auxiliary battery, so we made sure it is fully charged and drive it 1 day a week in charge mode. It has occurred two more times and it has always been charged so we do not think it is the auxiliary battery. The service department has given me a different answer each time . The last time they said that they do not know what it is and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. They just tell me to bring it in if it occurs again. Not sure what the difference will be when I bring it in a 4th time. I am really frustrated as I have this brand new vehicle which is no longer reliable. Please let me know if anyone else has had similar issues...Open to suggestions?

Very sorry that you experiencing this problem and no one has a proper answer for you, as yet.

I trades in my 2022 PHEV for a 2024 GT on Apr 8th and so far have not experienced an major problems like you are but It certain is not free of issues like the ICE kicking in for no reason at all bit restating car, gets it back on EV Mode.

I have reported some of the issues that I have been experiencing in other threads.

I will continue flowing your Thread and hope that you can find a solution soon.

Wow, that really sucks. Ours is also only 3 months old, but we haven't had any issues like that at all.
One would think that if the system registers a fault, it would save that information, and when the tech connects it to their troubleshooting computer, it would show up. Very odd for the vehicle to register to a fault, deal with the fault by slowing the vehicle down, and yet have no record of the incident for the technicians to analyze.
Very sorry to hear you have to go through this and hoping if this happens to my car, the dealership handles it better.

You guys worry me! I have a 2020 model and at 74,000 km no trouble at all. I was hoping that by the end of the year I might consider getting a 2024 model at a reduced rate before the 2025 models come, but know I am rethinking my choice?????

2024 Outlander is a great car to use as a PHEV for great efficiency on EV Mode or as for worry free driving as an HEV (Hybrid) but if you live in an area where the temperatures may drop to -25' or lower, may be best to stick to your 2020 until Mitsubishi incorporates a Main Battery Heater and a small resistive heater for the interior or change the App to allow us to remote start the ICE when the Outside Temperature drops to -15'C or below because the Heat Pump no longer works at lower temperatures.

It would be great if someone from Mitsubishi were reading these Posts.

Thanks for the update. I live in the Niagara region close to the falls and lake and so far have never been that low even though my car is garaged. By the way on a full charge what is your battery range? Mine is 30/32 Km

In the Summer time and temps averaging above 20'C I have been getting 95/100 km but I do force it into EV Mode, ECO and Regen to B0

For this past week however, the temps have been fluctuating between -4 to 16'C so, averaging around 12'C. Again driving on EV Mode, ECO and BO and using the Heater for about 10% of my drive I am now getting 80/90 kms on a full charge and 0.1l/100km fuel because I was not doing the Forced EV mode correctly.

After following drwho's suggestion of

1) Start car without pressing on Brake Pedal
2) Press EV Button
3)Press Brake Pedal and Start.

I then

4) Select ECO Mode
5) Shift to D, Pedal Regen to BO

Since I started doing this procedure the ICE has not kicked in as of yet even when I turn on the Cab Heat to 24'C. I usually set it for 21 or 22 in the dead of winter.

I do expect my range to drop even more as the Average Ambient Temperature starts to drop since I park my 2024 PHEV outside.

I hate to say it but now I am eagerly waiting for the tempuratures to get to -20'C or colder to see when the ICE is required to start up.

Did I ever mention that I hate Winter? Well, I do and especially when the temperature hits -15'C and colder.


Well I do and this is why I go to Mexico from the middle of January till the middle of February. I can only be away for a month because I am still working.

I also hate winter. When you retire, will you got to Mexico for a longer period?

Yes, God willing I would like to go for 3 months once I retire.

For the last 3 years we have been going to the Pacific side. We have been staying at the Holiday Inn, All Inclusive Resort in Ixtapa, Guerrero, for 28 days.

We love it there and have many Local friends there and ppl from Canada and the USA that like to frequent Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo during the time we are they, they come down fir 2 weeks at a time
 
That sounds like a really good time. It's so nice to get to the warmth for an extended period of time.
We have a friend who used to go down and basically live there for six months at a time, and she's trying to figure out now, how to make that happen again. I think her financial situation has changed.

Same thing has happened to our 2024 with only 3100 kms. Had it towed to the dealership today and waiting for news on it in the morning. I will post how it goes.

When you say "towed to the dealership" I hope you don't mean that. EVs cannot be towed, they need trailer/low loader carriage.
