Hi all
Hoping some of you can help with some advice. I am looking at the map and trying to work out the best route to go from consett back to south of thirsk area. The issue is I am going to be towing a largish trailer for the first time tomorrow and I am getting a bit worried about it! I will be on my own in the car so need to be able to navigate easily whilst avoiding sharp turns, narrow gaps etc. Gulp. There is such a choice of roads. I am currently thinking a1 will be easiest, but what is the best way to cut across to the 691? Don't want to go through durham! Was thinking of going up the 167 - looks like quite a few roundabouts, but is it a reasonable road without lots of parked car chicanes?
Was originally going to use the a19 but getting across to the west from there looks a bit fraught.
Presume the a68 is a bit hilly...
