OK call me a dinasour if you wish, but why can't you turn on your headlights when needed? The DRL's mean you dont have to worry about headlights until its dark(ish).

Automatic lights control is a great idea - I have forgotten to turn my lights on a few times on other cars and the risk is far greater with the Outlander because the dashboard is illuminated even with the lights off. But the least sensitive setting on the Outlander still turns them on far too early... The automatic wipers work far better - the sensitivity control has a decent range.
