Hello

Recently had to change my car internal fuse box because my front wipers would not turn on when i wanted them too.. something to do with the relay switches..
didnt wanna spend £2k for a fuse box from dealer so i bought one from ebay for £100.. my local car electrician managed to swap the fuse box which fixed the wiper problem but now my car's other sensors are not working, including: parking sensors, sonar, reverse camera, and auto cruise..

Does anybody know how to go around fixing this? i looked around my area to see if any one specialised in coding the Etacs or backup my old one and restore it to new box but nobody seems to have the software for Mitsubishi. I considered getting the software and the cable myself online but not sure exactly what i need.. can any one help?

Many thanks

ETACS are vehicle specific, and have their own configuration file. The VIN needs to be written to it as well as your original config file.

Do you have the old ETACS still? Without it you will need to get a dealer involved, as they will be able to supply the config file and load it to your ETACS.

I am surprised you didnt need new keys. or your original ones reprogramming.

Hello again and thanks for your reply

When my local electrician changed the fuse boxes.. he did mention he had to put my car's vin number through the car diagnostic machine in order to make the car start only wish he could of done something about other sensors too..

I still have the old ETACs

I called couple of the dealers, some of them had no clue and wanted me to bring the car in and they do their own check, some others mentioned that they were gonna download the info from old ETACs box and then put it into new one.. with a possible bill of £1500 -_-. none of them mentioned that they already have the configuration.. meaning they would want to put the old box first back it up then put the new box is and upload the file there.. resulting in another 3hrs extra labour for nothing.. if they already have the configurations then its just a matter of them uploading it to my car.. and could save me hundreds.. so do you think they already have the configurations or they would need to download it from my old box first?

2nd option is to get the cloned software from the net after having to pay $150 for software licence which is pretty much similar to what Mitsubishi uses.. also have to spend around £50 for cable.. the 3 software i would need are MMcondingwriter (free), MUT 3 coding (Free) and MUT 3 J2534 driver ($150 for licence)

3rd option is get both ETAC's (fuse box#s) out and send it to this guy who will take the chip out of the old one and put it into the new one.. he didn't quote me price yet.

4th option is to sell the car in Auction which is my last and final option but prefer not to do it.

Regards

The dealer will not necessarily have access to the ETACS .config file directly. It may have to obtained by your countries importer.

With the old ETACS available a dealer can retrieve the old info from it, and store it, and upload it to your new ETACS, But this would involve refitting it to the car.

If for some reason this doesnt work, which is possible, you would likely need a new ETACS, and possibly keys to suit it, which i suspect is why they are quoting you a worst case scenario price.

3 hours labour is a bit excessive. To swop the ETACS back in and out agsin and recode would only take 2 hours maximum.

Hi, did you get this resolved? I have an asx with an ETACs issue - Trying to find a way to get it sorted without the main dealer!

I recently posted my wipers have stopped working and I realise now I was searching for the wrong threads in this forum.

This was the thread I needed.

My wipers failed 2-weeks ago and today was the first time my Mitsubishi dealer was able to look at my car.

They had it all day and called me to say they couldn’t fix it and that it needs a new BCM.

Apparently this is the Body Control Module which appears to be called ETACS.

I think…
