Ok… UK’s persistent f…r 2019 2.4L, 33.4Ah, 72.8%, 50,000 mi. No procedure seemed to work until:
1. Drive down main battery to –/–.
2. Swap good 12V (Aux) to any other 12V (preferably smaller in size and capacity).
3. Press start x2 (no brakes applied).
4. Deplete substitute 12V to 7.5V (if battery is good) by switching on everything that can be switched on to max. Don’t mind the complaining dash.
5. Quickly turn off ignition (another press of the start button) and disconnect (-) on the 12V.
6. Plug in the active granny charger.
7. Touch (-) on the 12V long/short enough to stabilize the charging light on the dash (~3-4 sec) and disconnect right away. This step is critical. If required, it can be repeated by disconnecting the charger –> depleting 12V to 7.5V –> ignition off + negative terminal removed (-) –> charger on –> touch 12V’s negative to set the charging icon on the dash and remove (-).
8. Do not mind the reading on the OBD; in my case, it didn’t show any changes.
9. Let the car charge until auto disconnect, i.e. the charger automatically stops (charging light on the granny’s brick blinking).
10. Disconnect the charger.
11. Fit and connect the original 12V.
P.S. The electric boot was set to manual at the beginning. ‘EV service required’ will go away after a couple of on/off and lock/unlock cycles. Now use OBD to check the readings.
Before: 33.4Ah, 72.6%, speculative distance 40km
After: 46.0Ah, 100%, speculative distance 68km
All charging history erased.
