Also found my house electrics to be unsuitable for the fast charge unit without some fairly disruptive work taking place so have solely used the 13a lead since October with no problems at all. Put in place a dual outside socket that is waterproof and lockable and I just leave the mitsubishi unit plugged in outside all the time. Put a hook in the wall to hang the unit from just next to the sockets. I have an alcove between my porch and bay window so it's nicely sheltered from the weather. Have an isolator switch inside that I use to turn on/off the power to the outside socket so no need to unlock the outside plug socket when I want to turn the unit off. Works a treat and saves hassle of getting the cable out the boot each time you want to use it. Cost about £50 for the cabling, some trunking and the socket unit.
