Hello everyone, I've been using this forum to research for a month or so. I'm finally in the stage of finding my own PHEV and hopefully will be an owner of one soon!

4. What attracted you to the car initially: I was initially looking for a spacious hybrid, stumbled on the PHEV, and with my 4km daily commute it seems like a no brainer!

Bought my first one about 5 weeks ago, a 2015 gx4h and took it to my local mitsubishi dealer for a recall which turned out to be a modification to the wi-fi password. While I was mooching around I saw a 2016 gx4hs in black and traded mine in, beautiful machine and lovely to drive. As I'm retired and don't rack up big miles I'm looking forward to not visiting a petrol station any time soon and spending my time applying lots of polish . Currently residing in South Ribble, UK, and waiting for a lottery win so i can order a new one

4. Recent house move& shorter commute saw first a change from diesel to petrol, but even petrol wasn't efficient enough and PHEV was the ideal solution. Petrol car started giving expensive trouble, decided not to throw any more money at a 2010 car, and threw it at a 2017 instead.

New to the forum, although, I read for quite a while. My profile will be updated by time.

Originally, I wanted to fully jump on the EV train and skip the hybrid step as I had the thoughts that two engines in one vehicle is one to many. However, the Dieselgate in Germany led to make a decision earlier than planned. A little accident of a broken glass on the back door at my 2014 DI-D had me to discuss the overall situation with the shop owner one day. It ended up with literaly a car swap to the new 2020 PHEV model in March 2020. Since then I'm a happy driver of the Top model, mostly conquering the Rhine-Main area south of Frankfurt, Germany.

4. Lower resident on-street parking cost, no congestion and emission zone charges made me look around

6. Work as freelance editor, proof reader and print quality controller
7. No previous experience of EVs

Previously owned from new, but pre-registered diesel 1998 2001cc Peugeot 406 estate. Had done 120,000 miles and was good for many more. But aggravation of living in an inner London borough, and the extra charges of ownership the Green lobby was forcing thorough, made me look at alternatives.

In normal times, do a once-a-quarter trip to Paris and/or Antwerp and local trips usually within 30-mile radius of London. The European trips seemed to put a full EV capable of safely doing 300+miles out of my price range. Did online researches of hybrids. Still remained unsure, but Mitsubishi appeared to get the best reviews and fewer negative comments. Thought I'd try used, and tracked one down at a dealer in Epsom.

I like the car during the little I've used it (barely 1200 miles since purchase), but I admit I would have probably gone for a Peugeot had there been enough of its used its hybrids been around in September 2019. Nevertheless, I'm enjoying the Outlander and will probably stick with it for a couple more years.

Two niggles — lack of spare wheel, and I don't think the robustness matches Peugeot.

What attracted you to the car initially: will be my wife’s main car for daily driving, she is a doctor and has to go between three London hospitals so usually does 20-30 miles a day; the goal is for this to all be on EV, but still have a big comfortable family car for long trips away and a 4x4 for skiing in the Alps and drives to wilder parts of the world.

Welcome syzmon - just to comment on #4

Like you I live in London and commute in to the centre regularly. Note that you can park in Westminster Council's on-street bays for 4 hours at a time by just paying the minimum 10 minute charge e.g. 87p around Aldwych. Also you can get exemption from the Congestion Charge by paying a £10 registration fee - although Sadiq has promised to scrap this for hybrids from October, so only 6 months benefit unless he lost the election.

I've only been skiing with it once and it performed faultlessly when there was a blizzard on the autoroute outside Grenoble which left the locals struggling without their chains - cruised effortlessly up a long gradient weaving between the stranded vehicles - but admittedly on winter tyres.

However, I have also used it a number of times for high speed (80+mph) trips to South of France and yes, very comfortable, although consumption down to 27 mpg at that speed

Just purchased 2020 PHEV GSR in Adelaide South Australia. Also own a 2012 Disco 3 and a shagged out P38 RR. I work at Adelaide Airport (Retrieval Nurse) and live part time on Kangaroo Island.

I've already fitted Weathertech footwell covers, which did not fit very well and needed to be heated and remolded, so I am a bit leery about their loadspace cover, any advice?

I have also ordered a BullBar from ECB in Perth which will be fitted in a month or so; we have a LOT of wildlife on KI and an 80 kg Kangaroo does a lot of damage.

Anyone fitted better mud guards to a late model PHEV?

Hi HeliNurse, welcome. Great taste in Land Rovers and now Outlanders
I've lost all faith in Land Rover since the new Defender was launched. Prior to that I was a loyal supporter and owner of many different Land Rover versions until I made the mistake of turning to the dark side (Wrangler) . D3/D4, P38 and old Defender were the last of the "proper" Land Rovers in my opinion.

I will add a post with details of me move away from the dark side and into Outlander ownership !!

To cut a long story short, I have been a life long Land Rover fanatic from the age of 17 to my retirement, owning dozens of different Land Rovers, from the mainstream to some oddballs. (including 1948 Series 1 80", 1975 101" F/C).

Along the way we had run a few Jeep Wranglers so in February 2019 I decided to sell the Defender station wagon and buy a Wrangler Rubicon diesel. Bad decision. I can honestly say it has been the most unreliable new vehicle I have ever had the misfortune to own.
It has spent weeks in various dealerships waiting for repairs with repeated visits to fix the same faults.
I decided to ditch it before the warranty runs out at the end of September and started looking round for a replacement.
The reality is that I don't need a fuel thirsty, hard core off roader any more and so I decided on a softer 4x4 SUV.

Initially I hadn't considered an Outlander phev but when I went on the Mitsi UK "buy online" webpage and saw the pricing and the trade in offer they gave me for the Wrangler, it would have been crazy not to strike a deal.

Most of our journeys are local. Less than 15 to 20 miles round trip, so hoping I can run on battery most of the time. I will recharge overnight at home using the off peak electricity tariff that we already have.

Looking forward to collecting it next week and parting company with the Wrangler.
