Hi all,

It took me multiple hours and days to solve this one. I hope it will help some of you (let me know if it did)

I recently had an issue where audio wasn’t working via Bluetooth on my car radio. My phone (Pixel 8 Pro) connected just fine, but no audio was coming through. After some troubleshooting, I discovered the solution:

On the Pixel 8 Pro, under Bluetooth settings, there’s an additional option where you can specify the type of device your phone is connected to (via Bluetooth). Make sure to set this to “Auto.” This disables the spatial audio feature, which was causing the issue. Once I made this change, my phone connected with the car audio system perfectly.

To adjust this setting:

1. Connect your phone to the car via Bluetooth.

2. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and tap the gear icon next to the connection.

3. Change the device type setting to “Auto.”

The problem was caused by “Spatial Audio,” so disabling it solved everything!

I'm totally gutted, I'd really hoped it would of solved my issue too.
I also have recently had an issue with Bluetooth connection in my phev with my Google Pixel Pro 8!
It connects fine to make a call, but audio is a no go.
Its been fine until I updated my phone early December.
I don't have auto as an option on my Bluetooth settings when connected and have tried all the listed options.
I miss my music 😭😭

Send me a screenshot when connected, I'm sure it's there

Thanks for the tip. I'll give this a try.
Wahoooooo!!! The tunes are back....!!!

Made my phone and car forget about each other.
  • Re-paired and turned type from Car to Other (just doing that didn't work)
  • turned off the 'media audio' option on the phone
  • Re-paired and it only connected to phone (for calls)
  • Selected 'connect audio' on the car whilst 'media audio' was still turned off on the phone
  • wait for 'connection failed' to pop up on the car.
  • Turn on 'media audio' on the phone (leaving audio type on phone as 'other')
  • Then there was literally music to my ears!!! The bleep noise of audio connecting....

My first tune played was ROCK DJ from the new film Better Man (go see it!)

Thank you to everyone for their help and I hope the steps I did help someone else aswell.
