Hi,

I have see a previous topic about this but it didn't seem to get to a conclusive result. The reason is that we have had a spate of about 15-20 thefts of keyless vehicles in the last 2 nights in our small town. I never use the feature anyway and so it makes sense to disable and avoid the hassle. I have the GX4h 2016 and have been through the keyless settings and can't seem to find anything to disable it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

And happy new year to all!

I would suggest keeping your key fobs in a metal box, this should reduce the ability of the "power-amp" hack to communicate with your keyfob.

(Or at the very least, your key fob's ability to reply)

I keep mine in a RFI pouch at work, but that doesn't prevent communication at close range.

Keyless is still more secure than pressing fob due to difference in range - having owned 3 keyless Land Rovers I'm well aware of the problem and know owners who were targeted :(

The faraday pouch worked perfectly with the LRs but doesn't appear as effective with the PHEV :?

Police advice is to fit physical security devices like disklok which I did on Range Rover Sport but couldn't fit Discovery Sport - I haven't bothered with PHEV as I'm not aware of them being targeted unlike LRs which is another reason I left the brand - i.e. LRs denial and slow/lack of action to fix the issue

I thought that most thefts of high tech cars these days revolved around gaining access to the CAN bus and simply telling it to open and start.

I would suggest fitting a decent aftermarket alarm and immobilizer and/or (even better), a Bearlock steering column lock.
