Tailgate does not open

I was surprised today to be unable to lift the tailgate. It is manual, also : touching the contact does not produce any sound. The key was in my hand.
Is somebody encountered the same issue and how much it cost to get repaired ?

If you have the key fob too close to the lock the buttons on the car will not operate - you have to use the key fob. :!:

Also, don't have the key fob near your phone or it will not work either.
The amount of times I have tried to use key-less entry when the keys are in the same pocket as my mobile :shock:

Have you checked to make sure that your tailgate is not 'turned off' at the dashboard?

There is a button that enables/disables the motor.

If you activate the central locking (button on the door on my model), you can't open the tailgate. I get caught out on that sometimes.
