I struggled to connect my android Samsung. and I think that phone was connected to the house wifi and not the car.
I finally got connected after I tried to connect to the wifi directly-searching for available wifi networks on the phones settings finding REMOTE--xxxx and trying to connect. clearly this failed but then when I used the handbook method-ACC lock on off on off etc and linked up immediately
