Hi,

When using the mmcs to search for a contact. The system only allows me to enter the 1st character, the rest of the text box is greyed out. The contacts are stored (imported) from the mobile phone book.

Do I need to transfer contacts / numbers to the vehicle phone book to use this feature correctly, or is it a SW bug not allowing users to input more than 1 character?

I have never managed to get contacts into the vehicle phonebook. Normally I will import the device phonebook using voicecontrol. That seems to work quite well. The phone software is buggy, to put it mildly.

How do you mean by "never managed" and "normally I will import using voice control". Does it work for you or doesn't it work for you (regardless of how you do it)? Or does the "voice control" bit apply to other cars?

Anyway, MMCS had two phonebooks, a CAR phonebook and a MOBILE PHONE phone book. Many think the first is where you import your address book into. But this is not the case. The address book of your phone needs to be imported into the MOBILE PHONE phone book. The CAR phone book is meant for manually added numbers and such.

Indeed you can use only 1 letter to jump in the phone book. Whether this is per design or a bug? We'll never know ;-)

Actually the voice control allows me to import a mobile Phone book. However, once or twice it gost lost and had to be imported again.

Tried all that importing stuff - but my IOS contacts list constantly changes when I add people from my MAC or iPad as well as the iPhone - can't be bothered to keep re-importing it every time.... Plus using a touch screen to search for phone numbers is distracting especially when wanting to call someone when driving so I use the voice commands exclusively....

Works for me and it searches the PHONES contact list - so if I have new contacts added they are already available....

Easy - press the "On hook" button on the steering wheel and after the prompt say "Call" "Joe Blogs"
MMCS comes back with possible contacts if there are more than one match
confirm which and also confirm the phone line if the contact has multiple numbers
mmsc confirms who its about to call - "yes"
dials number

Easy peasy....
