iCarsoft i620 with PHEV Watchdog

I purchased an iCarsoft i620 Bluetooth OBDI interface dongle to use with the PHEV Watchdog app.
I managed to pair it with my Android (pie) phone but don’t seem to get any data from it. Is there a step missing? There are no lights showing on the dongle at any time. This seems curious because I’d expect it to be getting power to enable the pairing. However, the absence of lights suggests that I may not have pushed it in far enough(?) although I cannot get it to connect any better. Maybe the unit is faulty?
At what stage should the lights 'twinkle'?

Thanks for the suggestion - but I don't trust FaceBook.
I have been messing a bit more today and managed to get the thing to work.
Poor contacts, somewhere, perhaps.
Lights are now a-twinkling, and I have some interesting figures to digest!
