My first attempt to charge at a public charging point failed. I turned off the timer for every day, which is what I do when I need to charge at home during daytime and I also disabled the location setting. The car knew it was plugged in and the charging point told me that the car was not drawing the charge. When I got home I plugged in the home charger with the same setting and it started charging. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong or is there a known issue with this.

I take it you are signed up to a provider and used the RFID card or app to connect. If so then it may have been the street point at fault. I used a number of them when I first had the car (they were free then  ) and sometimes they failed to work - a phone call to the control usually confirmed the fault but sometimes "unlocked" it. Next time ring them.

Because it would not allow you to drive off? Plugging a type 2 - type 1 charge cable into the car will and not into the charger will already do this. Doesn't say anything about the state of the charger.
