Do the 2023 to 2025 Outlander PHEVs with the Heat Pump, still use a PTC Heater for the Cab?

I live in Canada and we do see temperatures as low as -35'C without any windchill.

I have a 2024 Outlander PHEV GT that uses a Heat Pump which warms very little at -14'C and shuts off totally at -15'C.

By the time that the heat from the ICE kicks it, the Cab gets very cold.

We are all very surprised that Mitsubishi decided not to use a Battery Heater in the Battery Pack but why did they also decide not to install a PTC Cab Heater.

I have been searching online for the type of PTC Heater that used to be used on the 2022 and prior models and saw a few photos and the top of the device looks like it has fins, similar to a large Heat Sink.

I did find a device similar to this on the left side of the Driver's seat, on the floor surrounded by the floor carpet and the Fins can clearly be seen.

I have touched these fins with my fingers when Cab was being heated by the Heat Pump when it shuts off at -15'C and when Cab was heating via the ICE coolant heating. And only felt luke warm to the touch.

I will post a photo of the device I found on the floor of my car just to the left of the Driver Seat.

Can you please look into this or if someone else knows, please offer your opinion.

Thank you20241202_153129.jpg

Just learned from another Forum that the Fin like device pictured above may be the Sound System Amplifier.

Yes, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander GT Premier PHEV has a water heating heat pump system. This system helps the vehicle warm up faster in cold weather and uses less fuel.
Explanation
The heat pump system in the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander GT Premier PHEV uses less power to heat the vehicle, which helps extend the EV range.
The heat pump system also helps keep the cabin warm in cold weather.
Mitsubishi heat pumps are designed to be energy efficient, quiet, and improve indoor air quality.

The 2024 model has no battery heater just like the 2023 model. The biggest issue has been vehicles left outside when the temperatures drop to a sustained -22F (-30C) as the battery itself gets too cold and the vehicle will not start.

Unfortunately the Heat Pump stops working when the outside Tempersture reaches -15'C and lower.

At -13'C the Air Vent Temperaturd only reaches 15'C. At outside remperature of -14'C the Air Vent Temperature only reaches 10'C.

When they say “quiet” - my pheasant is noisier than an ice vehicle. Is that normal?

Quiet??? Have you even heard it run? Of all the heat pump vehicles I've owned it is the noisiest. Sounds like a jet engine spooling up!

Ok. I typed that question into Chat GPT and got pretty much the exact same text in response. So no need to discuss this with AI.

Today I started my car at a temperature of feels like -17 without preheating it and the car started with the gasoline engine and the battery started as well.
And the heat pump noise is less than the gas cars when they start the reheating

Lol.

We are there already. Expecting windchill of -45 to -47'C in the next few days

I may have to plug in charger tonight.

Just incase..... Battery currently 1/2 Full

Heat pump has not been working the last 2 days because the temp has been lower than -15'C
