Disconnect battery to install accessories?

About to get down to work in a bit to install the interior illumination and the illuminated scuffs and realised that I don't know how or if the battery should be disconnected? Anyone done this before? I am assuming it's the 12V battery if at all, but concerned about any software issues that could result from disconnecting it.. :/

Apparently with genuine accessories, you don't need to do anything.. follow the steps and voilà.. its done.. no mess and no fuse.. interior illumination and scuff kit on in just over an hour by the installers..
