Maby, I think what you want is this:

Automatically engage Save or even Charge when driving demand is such that the engine can deal with it in parallel mode (taking into account speed and load). As soon as it can't, switch to Normal mode in an attempt to prevent Serial Hybrid mode.

Whether that restriction is fed back to the ICE motor so it doesn't thrash itself to death for no result I have no idea.
Don't worry, it will not.

I have presented graphics here showing how at lower SOC, the speed of the car is maintained by playing with the charge current and at higher SOC (when max charge current is insufficient), by playing with the throttle. It starts behaving like a normal car than.

If it wouldn't do that, the car would automatically speed up when the charge current was reduced due to increasing SOC. At least in parallel mode.

Yes, that is certainly how to achieve the outcome using the available controls. Then make it sticky so that I can tell the car that this is going to be how to run for the next several days because I'm going to be on a long journey. The result would be that I could allow the battery to discharge closer to its more fuel efficient point but be safe in the knowledge that I will always have sufficient reserve in the battery to meet high demand.
