Loved my test drive in the phev and was so close to making a purchase.

A few concerns……..Can anyone help?

I have been informed by one of the Power Point installers that the regular Home Charging on a standard 13a plug takes 12 hours? Because I don't have a private drive this would be my only option. Also this type of charging apparently does not help the life of the battery on the phev?

Currently driving an X Trail this has been superb and handles off road sections really well (not just dirt roads) The Exhaust seems to be a little low on the Outlander as well as the general ground clearance…..anyone had any scrapes?

My journeys are often quite short and I feel like I am the perfect mileage user for this style of car……

Thanks in advance

Not true on any counts - charge time on a standard 13a socket will be five hours or so and, if anything, it will improve battery life expectancy.

Mitsubishi themselves say that the Outlander is not a heavy duty off-roader - the 4WD in their words is meant for driving on wet grass and muddy tracks. Don't expect it to match a Landrover or Landcruiser.

Many Thanks Maby, Anyone else charging on the 13a only? Don't really want to compare the car with a Landcruiser or Landrover , maybe the x-trail and rav 4 would be more realistic….
Cheers….

Hi,
I'm charging on standard 13A mains socket. I haven't actually timed it but something like 5 hours is about right. The charge rate drops off towards the end. I also second that charging at this rate can only extend the batteries life rather than reduce it (as the rapid charge points will do if used regularly).

Kind regards,
Mark

I changed from a diesel T31 Xtrail to a Phev and had a T30 diesel Xtrail before. After nearly 2 months and over 2000 miles, I'm very happy with the change. The satnav isn't as good as the latter Xtrail's, but everything else seems better, and no DPF warnings! Haven't tested the Phev in any really arduous conditions yet, but seldom did with Xtrails either. Have done cart tracks, wet grass, floods, and a bit of mud without any need to use 4WD lock.
I have a BG charger at home which takes 3 hours or so but using the supplied cable and any 13amp socket only takes 5 hours as has been mentioned, and I do that when away from home.
