    I've bin finking

All of which is ok - while there is a choice - governments now seem inclined to remove the choice in the reasonably near future and I'm not convinced that the available technology will have caught up by then.

    I've bin finking

Exactly - I spend a couple of days per week at our house and the rest of the time away with no available charging facilities. My trips are far less than 1000km per day, but still no socket to connect to overnight.

Bye Bye clunks, hello smooth again!

We've got that, but we are out of warranty - anyone know how much the repair costs?

Drive battery degradation . Houston, do we have a problem?

Are you sure about that? I thought that someone here had discussed this with Mitsubishi and they claimed that the original comment about extending the battery SOH warranty to early cars was an error. Mine is a late 64 car and I don't think we have any SOH warranty - just the relatively useless...

Charge vs Save in steady-state driving

We are talking at cross-purposes - as is often the case - I don't disagree that the car is able to meet its stated performance on a flat battery, but only by racing the engine far more than I would consider acceptable. The poor little petrol engine in the PHEV is only two litres and normally...

Charge vs Save in steady-state driving

We may have thought that we agreed, but my experience of my car does not correspond to your description above. The location of my home is such that I often have to accelerate up a moderately steep hill from stationary at the bottom. With a full battery, I can accelerate from stationary to 40mph...

Charge vs Save in steady-state driving

I did say "battery fully charged so that it can give me the maximum acceleration boost when I need it" - in the absence of a significantly charged battery, more of the power has to come from the engine - resulting in the high engine revs. It happens at lower speeds when the car is in serial mode...

Charge vs Save in steady-state driving

Trex ran some very detailed tests a couple of years ago which indicated a small improvement in fuel economy from letting the battery run right down. The theory is that the battery will accept charge more efficiently when flat and hence the hysteresis loop operates better. Trex is in Australia -...

Crossing the UK twice. Do I need pounds?

I honestly don't know any more - I used to drive past Birmingham quite often and never used the toll, but that was quite a long time ago and things may have changed. The Traffic England web site has a map which shows you approximate vehicle speed in real time - have a look at the route you...

    There is a free alternative

Crossing the UK twice. Do I need pounds?

The only insuperable issues I can think of associated with having absolutely no cash on you are parking and road/bridge tolls. A lot (most?) car parks do not take credit cards for payment and many toll bridges don't either. I don't think there will be any tolls on your route and you can avoid...

    Self locking?

I don't think any Outlander has this functionality - no car I've ever owned or driven has - sorry.
  13. M

    Self locking?

Quite right - the Outlander will relock the door a couple of minutes after it has been unlocked provided no door has been opened in the intervening time, but it will not lock a car following a period of inactivity - that is a recipe for getting your keys locked in!

    Chargemaster or PodPoint

I certainly had to take the size into account - it had the potential to make it impossible to open a door if it had been too large.

    EV performance in cold weather...

From the day it was delivered fresh from the factory, our PHEV has never been able to do 30 miles on EV. I ran a few tests when it was less than a month old - in warm weather, on flat, empty roads, cruising at 30mph with the aircon off - the best it could achieve was 29.5 miles and it was like...

bluetooth issues, people cant hear us very well

Definitely - the problem is always Crapple.

4th service in UK - cost?

Anyone seen a list of what goes into the 4th year service? I'm planning on doing it myself.

Outlander PHEV 2015 dab or not dab?

I do have some recollection of the DAB option temporarily disappearing from the screen of our 2014 PHEV. It came back and I don't remember having done anything to get it back.

    Diving modes and the buttons

P.S. - I have "Parallel" and "Serial" swapped in the description above!

    Diving modes and the buttons

Not quite... There is no direct correlation between the settings of the buttons and what you are describing as the "driving modes" although the buttons do influence the way in which the control systems choose between those "modes". EV mode is when all the motive power is coming from the...
