OK; I checked out the wifi on the PHEV yesterday and as people on here have pointed out it does not have a very good range. It is definately not going to make it to anywhere else in my house other than the kitchen.

So I started thinking about range extenders. Point is that I already have range extenders plugged in for my existing wi-fi from my computer. If I now have to plug in another set of range extenders for the PHEV that is going to take up a fair few sockets in my house.

Question, therefore, is whether it is possible to get Wifi range extenders that can extend the range of two wifi signals from two different sources.

I have googled a lot but always come up with "dual band wifi" which is not what I am looking for. Anyone know if there is such a thing?

Looks like a good "startup" project or for university graduation project :)

Make a device with client wifi and 3G modem. Install it in car and pair with it.
Make cloud service to emulate client phone on the server side.
Remove mitsu app and use any browser with any internet access for connection to car.

You need to buy WiFi Repeater - special type of acess point: it retransmit every packet received.
This will drop your home wifi speed at least twice.

For example ( but need to check wifi standart version and band):

I also saw AP-repeater mode in D-Link products.

I have these around my home:

What I have has to be paired with one network (at present my home wifi network) and cannot be paired with two networks (i.e. home network and PHEV network).

Just to be clear - are you saying the difference between what you have suggested (a wifi repeater) and what I currently have in my home (a wifi extender) is that the repeater does not need to be paired to any network so that it just retransmits any wifi signals it recieves i.e. whether it is my next door neighbours wifi, my wifi or the PHEV wifi?
