We hit a deer that ran out in front of us. The car's bottom is messed up, the front part is cracked, but it's mostly just looks bad. The deer's leg got stuck in the wheel, which was really nasty.

I gotta ask, how's the deer? It sounds like your car took a hit, but I'm glad to hear the damage is mostly cosmetic. Have you been able to get an estimate for the repairs yet?

Glad you’re okay. Even though it looks like it's mostly cosmetic damage, I’d recommend getting the undercarriage checked out as soon as possible. With the front part cracked and the deer's leg getting stuck in the wheel, there might be more to the damage than it seems. The undercarriage protects a lot of critical components, and sometimes the real damage isn’t visible right away.

I'd suggest taking it to a mechanic or body shop for an inspection. Better safe than sorry, especially if something like the suspension or steering was affected. Hope it’s a quick fix!

That sounds intense! I had a similar incident with my Outlander a couple of years ago, and even though the damage looked minor at first, it turned out there were a few things under the car that got knocked out of alignment. It’s worth having a mechanic check underneath, especially since the undercarriage protects the battery and other important parts of the PHEV system.

Even if it's mostly cosmetic, you want to make sure there’s no hidden damage that could cause issues down the road. When I got mine looked at, there were a couple of loose pieces that needed tightening, so it wasn't too bad. Hopefully, your situation is just as simple to fix. Keep us updated on what you find!

That sounds like a tough situation—glad you’re okay! Even though it might seem like the damage is mostly visual, the fact that the front part is cracked and the deer's leg got stuck in the wheel means you should definitely get it checked out. There could be damage to the wheel well, suspension, or even the brakes that you wouldn’t notice just by looking at it.

I’d say it’s worth taking it to a mechanic, even if just for peace of mind. The undercarriage is key to keeping everything safe, especially with the hybrid components in the Outlander. Hopefully, it’s just cosmetic and you won’t have any major repairs, but better to get it looked at sooner rather than later.
