Where does this wisdom come from, if I may ask? Because i think it is not true.
Wifi and mmcs are not related. Only thing they have in common is that they both provide an interface for setting up charge and heater timers.
It is stated that firmware update can be done over WiFi using the app .. so .. I assume that this is also connected to MMCS firmware .. since the biggest firmware is on the MMCS ... I don't think mitsubishi want us to update the ECU firmware over WiFi
MMCS and WiFI are connected ... since they share time charging and heat up/AC timers ... disabling the WiFi cause also to reset these fields in MMCS

Code:
Vehicle Software Update
You can update the software of your vehicle.
When an update is available for your vehicle, the update recommendation screen will be displayed.
It is the best to update the software when this recommendation screen is displayed, so that the app continues to function normally.
That last quote is taken out of its context. I am pretty sure it only applies to the remote control system. Also, I have performed two firmware updates to mmcs myself and they do not involve wifi.
Like I said, mmcs is, when it comes to heating and charging, just a user interface that allows you to set the timers. But it does not hold any of those timers itself.
Anyway, best not to make to many assumptions and post them here as facts.
