heater timer

HELLO, I want to heat up the car, before I start the ride tomorrow. I realised, that I only can fix a start time. Not a end time for the heater . When will the heater stop then? I set the timer 10 min before I will start my ride, but what if I will be late? Will it stop automaticly? After some time? And: will it be heated by electric power when connected to the grid?
