I've had my Phev for about 6 months (old model). On Sunday I started getting a strange beeping noise, it does a long beep followed by a higher pitched short beep. It does it every couple of minutes when static and when driving at low speeds, it makes no sound when driving normally. There are no corresponding warning lights on the dash.

The sound is driving me nuts, so would welcome any help on what it is and how I can stop it.

I think there must be a phantom 'beeper' lurking in PHEVs.
I am often driving along minding my own business and I get a fairly low tone BONG!. No warning lights, no 'nutten' to indicate what it is trying to tell me I haven't hit the 'phone button or touched any controls other than the steering wheel and perhaps the paddles. No speed limiter set. All very strange.
Anybody got any ideas?

This is the standard FAQ on the forum :D.. It indicates the approach of a sharp bend at a speed that the car deems unsafe. It can be switched off in the navigation settings.

I can't find a reference now, but there was some feature in the Sat Nav that warned you of an impending steep bend ahead or something like that even if a route wasn't set.... (its PHEV speak for slow down your all doomed!, you see she loves you really).

Got a feeling it might be that, you can switch it off for good, somewhere! (did it a long time ago hence can't remember)

beat me too it.. :p

I used to get a bong in my Jag at spurious times and was really puzzled when I heard the same bong in the PHEV. Turns out it happens whenever Bobby Pryor mentions "Knock on effect" during the travel bulletins on Radio 2.

Thanks for that chaps. Strange that on demo before I bought it, the salesman went round a roundabout so fast (to demonstrate the power going to the two outside wheels. & therefore the brilliant roadholding) that both my girlfriend and I were plastered against the nearside doors & could not move due to G force. The fantasting roadholding was a factor in me buying the car, so I would have thought the 'Bong' was surplus to requirements. It certainly did not occur to me that I was approaching a corner too fast.

A beep is a lot different to a bong, especially when the car is static.

I have not heard any beeps when static. If the passenger is under a certain weight or moves about on the seat then it might be one of the seat belt warnings???

The other comments made only relate to normal driving and the GPS sharp curve ahead warning.

Dealer may have more insights.
