Hi all,
I walked by my car today whilst it was in the garage and I heard a faint beeping sound. There were no errors on the dash but the park light on the gear selector was on. I then opened the door and the beeping stopped followed by a few clicks. Is this normal? Sharing a video so that you can see for yourselves. Hopefully I managed to capture all the sounds.

By the way the car was closed but unlocked.

Any idea on why this is happening?
Also, I never had the app installed for this car. Never managed.

Yes, the car makes a quiet beeping sound while the 12V battery is being replenished by the traction battery.

This happens the same time every day (at 2pm normal time IIRC).
Ok thanks good to know. So its completely normal right? Its not happening because I did or doing something wrong?

Also, how long should it last so that I can keep my eye on it?

Yes. Completely normal.

The only possible 'wrong' I can think off, is an after-market accessory that is wired up to continually draw power, even if the car has been turned off.

This can be an issue if a burglar-alarm, or dash cam etc*. is able to completely drain the 12V battery (and traction battery) over a long period of time.

How long is a difficult question.

It probably depends on the starting state (voltage) of the 12V battery.

I've heard mine in operation countless times over the years, but only rarely heard the clunkity-clunk of it turning off.

I think it was less than an hour doing the self charge, but I'm not sure.

I'd only had my car a couple of days before I started calling it 'Beepy', and now, still, tend to give it a pat when I walk past if I hear it doing 'something'.

(Yes, I'm hopeless, anthropomorphise everything.)

*etc. can be anything on a long list of potential accessories, I'm pretty sure I've run into owners that had issues with OBDII wifi adapters that ran down the battery, plus electric heaters, CB radios...

ok thanks.

I have nothing connected to the car that is not factory so I shouldnt have any issues.
