Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

Oh my God. Please read the documentation from the manufacturer. 61 km is the predicted normal range claimed by the manufacturer for a 20 kWh battery in those model years.

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

Agree. 20 kWh fully charged is good for 60 Km range. (I used 61km) So, 20 kWh charged 80%, should be good for 48 or 49 km. Right?

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

I dont suppose anything. It is a fact a 20 kWh battery charged to 80% is good for 49 km in EV mode. Except in very cold weather. If 10.6 l/100 km is too high, then this makes CHARGE mode even less advantageous.

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

One day I might do a 50 km round trip in SAVE mode. Then do the same 50 km round trip in CHARGE mode in same atmospheric conditions, and will note the state of charge level before and after the 50 km round trip. The difference in fuel burned ( measured by comparing liters per 100 km) in the 2...

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

I dont understand your question. I wrote when the vehicule is parked, ICE running in CHARGE mode, it will stop charging after 94 minutes of charging, based on the video above. The battery will be charged from zero to 80% after this 94 minutes of charging. This 80% charge will allow you to drine...

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

Not worth using the recharge mode, vehicule parked, to gain range on EV mode. Better off driving on the ICE, which will burn less fuel. I dont know how I can explain this any better. Maybe some else can jump in.

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

When and if the véhicule is stationnary, not moving, ICE in CHARGE mode, it will burn 6.2 liters to charge 80% of the battery. This 80% will give a range of 49 kilometers on battery only. Equivalence for 100 km is : 6.2/49*100 =12.6 liters per 100 kilometers. In other words, you would be...

Self-charging fuel use in a 2023 outlander PHEV

Findings from the same video above: Time to recharge the 20kwh battery from empty to 80% : 94 minutes Fuel burn during this time: 6.2 liters Fuel burn rate for recharging ( vehicule stationnary) : 6.2/94*60 = 3.96 liters per hour range achievable with this recharge: 80% x 61 km = 49 km...

    Battery flat

Just a Quick calculation: You read 2 km left on the guess o- meter before recharging. So you recharged 59 km of the nominal 61 km capacity. 59 / 61 * 20 kWh =19,3kWh Very very close to your Chargepoint reading of 19.1kwh. Your readings and observations are therefore validated.

Apple Car play quit on me.

Apple Carplay does not connect since yesterday. Car is only 3 weeks old, not even 1000 km on the clock. I have tried my wife's iphone, after my own iphone. I have tried with at least 6 different cables, tried both USB and USB-C ports. Nothing works. I did not find documentation of this problem...

I do think the physical battery capacity is greater than the nominal claimed capaciyt, but I dont think not as much as 30%.

    Battery flat

30% is a lot. I have a power meter, and started using it yesterday when recharging Mitsu. The power meter measures voltage, amps instant kw , and accumulated kwh from my last reset to zero. My objective is to measure true kwh used when recharging at home. I will start a new thread with my...

    Battery flat

I know for the 2022 model years and up, there is no conventionnal 12 volt starter. I am not familiar with previous model years. The generator acts as a starter. Tjerefore the generator needs to be fed by the main battery. The main battery recharges the 12 auxiliary volt battery as needed.

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

Right on! Late this afternoon, température display in the dashboard was -11C, EV mode lit up in the Dash, remaining battery range in km displayed, but ICE started immediately, ignoring my command to force EV, but shut down after 2-3 km of driving. By then battery temp had increased slightly...

Report of this cold morning drive: Ambient temperature -16C, car not plugged intentionnally for last 48 hours, battery SOC 7/8 full, forced EV mode, got the turtle as per the follwing pic, ICE started immediately, battery temperature was slightly left of the white marker line: Drove 4 km...
