Its not on all the time, its only lit up when the headlights are on. I’m fairly sure it is designed purely to provide a small amount of ambient light / glow towards the centre console when its dark outside. I don’t think there’s any way to switch it off, other than turning off the headlights.

It does have to be in Park, thats what I said in my post up above. If you try to do it while its not it Park it just beeps at you.

Thanks for clarifying. So on slippery ground, snow, etc. its fine to activate 4WD lock and leave the traction control turned on, but if the car starts to struggle or gets stuck then the two systems can conflict with each other so in that case you’d turn off traction control, is that correct ?
