    Abused CHADEMO

Unless you're very lucky indeed, with any car you might buy there are almost certainly a list of half a dozen (or more) items that could be 'improved' to make it better suit your personal needs. But each such list of improvements will contain different items for each customer (particularly the...

    Eco button ?

The main function of the ECO button is to change the response of the accelerator pedal - you have to depress it further to get the same amount of power that you would in 'normal' mode. AFAIK it doesn't affect the operation of other power drains, such as aircon, but i'm happy to be corrected.

    The end for lithium batteries?

Another issue with battery swap, is this. Imagine you've bought a shiny new EV with a battery that delivers close to the manufacturer's claimed range. You run down the charge and then you visit a 'filling station' where it's swapped out for one that has done maybe 100,000+ miles. How happy...

    Factory Specification

My (Dec 2015, so 2016 'facelift' model) GX4h has cruise control but not adaptive cruise control and, as far as I'm aware, this difference continued on later model years. Even the 4hs model (at that time) didn't have auto-dip, but that may have been introduced since.

    Catalytic converter thefts

How many airbags does it take to blow up an ATM? I'd never heard of this theft, but a quick Google suggests they're more likely to be used as replacement parts.

    Brake discs

You have my sympathies :) My sister lives the other side of MK from me. Every time I traverse it, it cripples my fuel consumption for the reasons you explain. I wonder what the total annual additional CO2 emissions amount to?

    outlander PHEV routine maintenance

I think most non-Mitsubishi outfits would refuse to carry out a service. There are just too many lethal parts 'under the hood', if the power system hasn't been properly made safe.

    Hello

It sounds like a good fit for you - you'd only need to charge every other day. I've just returned from a short break near Aberystwyth (Lledrod), and I didn't spot many charging points - do you have your own drive to park on, and is it within reach of a domestic 3-pin socket, or are you thinking...

How do I get the app for remote heating?

You'll need to work out which of the three Mitsubishi apps (PHEV, PHEV I and PHEV II) is the right one for your car - I suspect it's the last of these (my post-facelift 2015 model uses PHEV I), but please don't take that as anything other than a semi-intelligent guess :) The app connects via...

Are dealers simply ignorant, or dishonest?

It's Japanese! Same reason their motorbikes do everything the opposite way round to European ones :)

Are dealers simply ignorant, or dishonest?

Yes, as others have pointed out, my (the wife's!) other car is a manual, so learning to left-foot brake would be a bad habit. It's surprising how easy it is for the mind to switch from one car to the other, though I (very) occasionally forget I need to depress the clutch when coming to a stop...

    Reverse

It's the sort of thing Top Gear could do on their airfield :). I seem to remember reading that the PHEV is electronically limited to 15 mph in reverse, which would spoil the 'fun'.

    Hello! Outlander and Hybrid Newbie

There's no need to get too technical, unless you want to. You can leave the car in D (except when you need to go backwards!) and forget about using the B settings to recharge the battery when the car slows (although some of that will still happen by default) and enjoy the relaxing ride in what...

    Would you still buy it?

The Volvo is front-wheel drive only, if that's a consideration. I still don't see much that's comparable at a similar price. As for battery degradation, that's a potential issue with any electric (particularly PHEVs, because the battery is smaller), but I don't see any reason why Mitsubishi...

    TIP, TRICKS and MODIFICATIONS

All cars do the same. EU* regulations are that a speedometer must never show less than the actual speed, and must never show more than 110% of actual speed + 10 kph. Modern speedos are much more accurate than this, but to ensure they don't break the law manufacturers set them to overread...

    Charging questions

There's no intrinsic reason why a 110V supply should not be able to deliver as much power as a 240V one. But I don't know enough about US domestic power arrangements to be sure.

    Gas vs Electric drive

Either/both. The car can be powered: by electricity only; or in 'serial' mode, with its ICE generating electricity to drive the electric motors; or in 'parallel' mode, driving the front wheels directly through a single speed drive (no gears, so the engine speed has to match that of the road...

    Who are you?

Welcome to PHEV-land :) The 'facelift' is getting rather archaic (not to say arcane). There was a significant cosmetic change to the car's design ~2015 - the thumbnail logo of the site at the top of the page illustrates a 'pre-facelift' version, the facelift introduced a bit of extra chrome...

    Performance on Road Trips

Air resistance* is proportional to speed squared, so will increase by ~50% between 65 & 80 mph. * as is rolling resistance, but that's more complicated :)

    Kuga to Outlander..views please!

It's certainly not just you, jaapv. "Self-charging hybrid" is just a bit of fluff dreamt up by Toyota's marketing department. There are very few non-plug-in hybrids that deliver significantly better fuel economy than an equivalent conventional ICE vehicle. And when you factor in the extra...
