    Parking camera

On my 2016 UK model, there's a button on the steering wheel (top left) with a 'screen' icon, which toggles between rear view, side view and off. (Rear view is selected automatically whenever you select R, of course, but the toggle switch still works. It's very handy.)

    freeway charging

On the basis that (domestic) electricity is cheaper than petrol, most of us want to maximise our use of electricity. There's no 'free' energy from the ICE that can be used to charge the battery, it will always consume extra petrol in doing so. 'Charge' is really there to mitigate the problem...

Plug in battery drains overnight for some reason

24 miles is a reasonable number. My guessometer often shows less than 20 on a full charge, but I live in a hilly region, which the car has 'learnt' about. The range will go down by a few miles, as the weather gets cooler.

UNEXPECTED CHARGE POINTS - PLEASE ADD!!

Powis Castle (Welshpool), including a standard 3-pin plug option. More and more NT locations are getting charging points.

    Towing a caravan

I think Jake is referring to the display that shows how the car is being powered. The engine block turns orange when the engine is using the direct drive to the front wheels and blue when it's powering the car by electricity via the generator. The direct drive is a fixed gearing and is...

DAB radio losing preset station names

Me too, ajh. I wonder what's behind this? Nothing has changed in the car, either to start it happening or to end it, so I can only assume that something changed in the DAB signal itself. But why would it only affect Mitsubishi cars rather than the million and one other DAB tuners out there...

DAB radio losing preset station names

I don't want to tempt fate (OK, I will anyway :) ), but this hasn't happened to me for a week or so, even though (of necessity, because of my location) I switch between multiplexes frequently, with the associated few seconds of dropout which this has always triggered.

DAB radio losing preset station names

Mine's the slightly later 'facelift' version - model GX4h (in red :D). I, too, saw The Register article and agree it seems unrelated. And I'm pretty sure Absolute 70s is the first DAB station in alphabetic order (I also get the silent pause before it starts up). As I noted above, the presets...

DAB radio losing preset station names

The presets are still there, if you press 3 it goes back to Radio 3 (in my case) and then if you press and hold, the reset is restored. But it's still infuriating, I agree. I'm lucky, it's more like every 30 minutes for me. Nothing has changed on the car or MMCS, so I can only assume that...

DAB radio losing preset station names

The problems with digital TV are 'atmospheric conditions' arising from a static high-pressure area over the UK. HD Freeview stations are usually the worst affected, and DAB can also suffer from 'bubbling mud'. On FM it manifests by getting 'foreign' stations, I've had ones from France, and...

2014 outlander phev engine start issue solved, sharing experience

I don't think the car will go into D or R while plugged in.

DAB radio losing preset station names

Same problem here. I'm in the Chilterns, which means regular switching between London and Oxford DAB signals (depending which side of the ridge I'm on), which used to cause a few seconds of dropout, but now gives a deafening cacophony from some 'pop' station and all the presets blanked. The...

    Charging vs Preheat

Leaving it plugged in to the charger obviously helps, but my 3kW charger can't quite keep up with the battery drain due to pre-heat. I don't know about a 4kW charger.

When to use electric park brake?

The Highway Code doesn't really recognise technology much later than the 1950s. For example, stopping distances appear to be based on a Ford Prefect with two-inch wide cross-ply tyres and drum brakes. See also: parking space dimensions.

    Towing in hilly areas

You can't use the direct engine drive ('parallel' mode) under 45mph because there's a single fixed gear and the engine revs would be too low. Enabling it would require either multiple gears (heavy and complex) or something like a fluid coupling (less efficient).

    Advice for a long drive

Yes, I feel the same (mine has the basic cruise control, not ACC). For instance, if I've got the cruise control set for a 30mph limit and am approaching a speed restriction, travelling at 50 mph, if I then lift off and resume the cruise control, it will let the speed drop to a few mph below the...

    Advice for a long drive

The driver has no direct control over which mode is in use, it's decided by the car's electronics. Parallel mode uses a direct drive from the engine to the front wheels, and so is only available at sufficiently high speeds (so that the engine isn't under-revving), typically ~45mph/70kph. At...

    Best way for charging

I mentally work on 'home' electricity (~£0.12/kWh*) being about ⅓ the cost of running on petrol (~£1.20/litre*). The difference is almost exactly accounted for by the fact that ⅔ of the price of petrol is tax (in Europe, anyway), whereas domestic electricity is lightly taxed - how long this...
