What features would you like to see added to the Outlander PHEV in the future?

Because of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance (not a merger), Mitsi have stopped selling in Europe (including their very popular Outlander PHEV and L200 pickup). There are rumours the Outlander may return🤞

    Towing - What Mode

"good" in what way? Once the charging process is complete (at ~80% full) the car will use the energy in the battery until it's dropped a few percentage points and then recharge it again (referred to as a 'hysteresis' cycle). Without charge mode selected, exactly the same thing happens but with...

    Towing - What Mode

The main reason for using Charge mode when towing is that faced with a sufficiently steep gradient, the engine + battery can't generate enough power to maintain speed and keep the battery charged. If the slope goes on for long enough (in Europe we'd be talking about Alpine passes) the battery...

    Battery flat

Much of the 'lost' energy is dissipated as heat. It's a significant issue for EVs that use 'superchargers' which can run up to 360kW - even 95% efficiency (unlikely in practice) means there's 18kW of heat to dispose of (preferably without melting anything!)

    Introduction

Thanks, I couldn't see it in your photo, but I guess it's under the "Donnelly Mitsubishi" tag.

    Introduction

Welcome @gagnona ! Has Québec dropped the "Je me souviens" tag from its licence plates? It's been many years since I was last in La Belle Province. I always wondered what it was they were trying to remember, but it seems opinions vary on this point :).

How long can these cars last?

Pretty much all hybrids are like this, the engine revs are determined by the power you're demanding and have no direct link with the rate at which the wheels are turning. It can be a bit disconcerting at first! Above ~45mph, the car can drive the front wheels directly ("parallel mode")...

    DAB radio Issues

If it's the long-standing (UK only?) DAB issue, the stations haven't been lost, just the labels. So if you can remember which station corresponds to Preset 1, selecting it will take you to that station. A long press will store the station back along with its correct label. But this only lasts...

What features would you like to see added to the Outlander PHEV in the future?

Remember your personal settings, to save having to run through a 'check list' each time I switch on the car. Even better, separate settings for Driver 1 and Driver 2!

    Charge mode?

But Charge mode does exactly the same thing, just at around 80% battery level (above that the car uses 'trickle' charging when plugged in). And if you don't select either Charge or Save, just the same thing happens around a battery level of 10% (which the car reports as 'empty'). If there's...

What does a new owner need to know?

Not driving up hills (where I live) would mean leaving the car in the driveway!

    B5 default?

It's a 'loudspeaker' icon (with a corresponding warning light on the dash. The button to operate it is below and to the right of the steering wheel (on my British 2016 spec model, YMMV).

    B5 default?

Lots of 1:6/15% hills where I live (Chilterns, England), so B5 makes the most of regeneration. With experience, you can 'balance' the accelerator to get close to the effect of B0. If you don't drive EVs all the time, B0 can 'catch you out' because there's no slowing down at all, unlike what...

DAB radio losing preset station names

Still happening to me. Recently, the 'rogue' station seems to have changed from "Absolute Radio" (first alphabetically) to one of the Virgin stations.
  15. C

    B5 default?

There's a simulated 'engine noise' when you drive below ~35 mph (to alert other road users, particularly pedestrians to your presence). This can be turned off (on my 2016 model) with a dashboard button.

My spare tyre solution. with photo's.

A couple of weeks ago, I lost a rear tyre to a major puncture that left it completely flat. The AA (=AAA for US readers) emergency recovery guy confirmed that I'd need a new tyre and as it was after 5pm, options were limited if I didn't want to wait an hour for a flatbed to tow me home. So...

    Insurance

Mine went up (Darwin) from just under £200 to just over £275, but I'm an old codger, so maybe that helps! That was a renewal (after switching last year because they were then the cheapest), but comparison didn't find anybody cheaper.

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

Tesla owners in deep freeze discover the cold, hard truth about EVs I hear it's around -40ºC in northern Finland, at the moment.

Connect to Wi-Fi - How the dealers do it

I've always manually selected the car network before starting the app (I'm on version 1) and have no problems. Modern Android (and, I assume, Apple) phones complain that there's no Internet connection and offer to switch to another network, which I have to manually decline.

14 mile range for 2018 Outlander PHEV, normal?

My car is very similar in age and mileage to yours, and I get just over 20 miles in summer and today is 16-17 miles. But I live in a very hilly area - no doubt if I moved to East Anglia or the Netherlands, I'd get a better reading (and I also don't concentrate on maintaining a constant 30mph).
