Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

It's just one of those "set and forget" things - I set mine to 19° when I picked up the car for the first time and it just stayed there almost till I traded it in. There's a thermostat and it either heats or cools as necessary to make me comfortable... Martin

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

My experience of a brand new 2014 model was that you had to drive it very gently to get 28 miles out of it. I would assume that most UK customers would have the aircon on all the time - I didn't buy a new, and relatively expensive, car in order to drive it like the old Mini that I had as a...

    Heavy freeway driving

Looking at the original question, it seems quite clear that the distance is a fair bit beyond the EV range. Martin

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

I don't think it's unusual - my new X-Trail does not have a lifetime reading either. It maintains three numbers - consumption since most recent engine start, consumption since last refuel and consumption since last manual reset. Martin

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

Given that the mpg is very driver dependent, I'm not sure that the figure achieved by the previous owner of a second-hand car is of much interest to you. Depending on usage patterns, it's not hard to get the fuel consumption of an Outlander PHEV up to similar levels to a pure petrol car - do you...

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

I don't know about the recent models - in my 2014 model it was necessary to leave one of the trip recorders untouched from delivery. Mine was showing a lifetime of 44.3 mpg when I traded it in last year Martin

Part For Sale Before I bin it...

... does anyone want a 16A Chargemaster wall unit? It's about ten years old, but was working fine a few months ago before we traded in our old 2014 PHEV. It's the kind that does not have a captive cable, so anyone taking it will need a separate cable... It's located in Hemel Hempstead...

Pressurized Fuel Tank - does Outlander PHEV have it?

My new Nissan does not have a fuel cap at all. There's a metal flap in the bodywork that flips open if you press it lightly. Inside, there's the metal tube that leads down to the tank and this has a simple hinged flap that you push open with the pump nozzle. Martin

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

It's quite cold by Japanese standards. I was surprised when they started selling it in Scandinavia - forget about Canada! We live in Southern England - pretty rare for the temperature to go below -5C - but I was not sure about the wisdom of offering the Outlander PHEV here. OK, it never refused...

New PHEV (2019 model) | Locking doors when starting the car

I can believe that that is supported, but I don't think it is what the OP was asking for. It is a common requirement for vehicles being used as taxis to lock the doors as it starts to move - to avoid accidents where a passenger falls out of a moving car - but they unlock again when the car...

30% charge showing at charger even though my car says 0 miles

It will depend on the weather and your driving style. I never got better than 28 miles from our Outlander even when it was new, and that required gentle driving on flat roads without heating or air-conditioning. I was not willing to allow EV range to dictate my comfort and driving style - in the...

    Remote Unlocking

I strongly suspect that it will be a CR2032 - that is what goes on virtually all car key fobs - certainly is what was in my 2014 Outlander. It may not matter with the Mitsubishi, but I generally try to complete the battery swap within a short period of time - a minute or two. For security...

GEEKY - My Outlander Exceed PHEV

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

Mine was also a company car - and we owned the company, so we also saw the benefits from the employer's point of view. We had a lot more flexibility in how we wrote off the cost against profits. The high depreciation on the car was also an advantage - given that we were both the drivers and...

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

A typical pattern of use would be to leave home with a fully charged battery and spend three or four days at our boat, using the car for local trips without the opportunity to recharge. Running the car on Save over that period would leave the battery flat before we got home again. Martin

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

I think they just came to the conclusion that changes to taxation status and other rules in the pipeline would just be too much trouble. We've just bought a new car and I researched the options. The Outlander with its short EV range has lost most of the advantages that it used to have. When we...

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

No, I mean Save - the charge level still drifts down over time because the hysteresis loop on the PHEV charge level is quite wide. You start the car and hit Save, then drive off - almost always, the charge level will be lower when you turn the car off and that becomes the new high point of the...

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

Drive on save until the battery gets down to around 30% then drive on charge till it gets up to about 60% - repeat until I arrive at my destination. Martin
