What does a new owner need to know?

I've had mine for about 9 years now... The car is not particularly demanding. Plug it in the night before you need a full charge. Use the paddles (regenerative braking) to manage your speed when needed. (Stop-go traffic, or on long downhill sections.) There's no need to mess around with apps...

Engine doesn't start at all run on EV

I have a 2014 PHEV, and there is no 'starter' as far as I can tell. My instinct is that it starts with a combination of changed ignition timing to make one cylinder fire and a slight push from the generator. My experience is that the engine starts before I have finished pushing the charge...

New battery tech for existing retrofit

I cannot comment on what Mitsubishi may or may not do, but I can tell you that companies are starting to spring up, which do battery refurbishments for electrical and hybrid vehicles. If this is not already an option for you, I expect that it will be soon. There has been a lot of discussions...

A little confused about battery range...

There's a few things to check first. 1. Has your (or any other driver of the car) driving behaviour changed? Aggressive driving, and/or high speed driving affects range? 2. Any new accessories on the vehicle that could be using charge or affecting the wind shape? 3. After a brief journey...

Engine doesn't start at all run on EV

I've never heard a sound like that from my vehicle. Probably the first thing you should check is every fuse, and every relay, to make sure that someone has not disabled the engine deliberately. The thickness, and lack of, oil, suggests that a previous owner skipped the routine servicing...

    Idiot guide

Skipping the heli part... If you find yourself on the top of a hill, and use the regenerative braking (paddles) to maintain your speed on the way back down, you can get to the point where your battery won't take any more charge. This has happened to me a few times, particularly because I live...

    Exhaust Rattling - Trailer Hitch

When I had my 'trailer hitch' fitted, I noted that there is very little clearance between the rear muffler and the brackets for the unit. Note also in the attached image, there is a mount (rubber support) for the rear muffler that needs to be reattached after the fitting is done. My instinct is...

How long with no activity and still start?

Yes, 2 weeks should be no problem.

Wifi Not Broadcasting & Charging Timer Not Functioning

Hi there, I believe that you may be mixing up two different functions. 1. You pair your phone to the car, so that you can make receive calls etc. 2. You use the Mitsubishi app, to connect a device to the car to manage the remote control features, timers etc. Follow the instructions in the...

Outlander 2014 Charging Woes: Seeking Solutions

Hmm... Your main battery, the traction battery, should not be anywhere near zero. When you are driving the car, the engine should be charging the 12V battery at the same time as the traction battery. Is your car also unable to charge from the engine? I'm confused about how you would be able...

Outlander 2014 Charging Woes: Seeking Solutions

I think it's more likely that the battery is low because it is old and failing. The battery should charge up whenever the car is turned on. If you are using the app to communicate with the car, it should also charge up every day. (At 2 pm IIRC)

Outlander 2014 Charging Woes: Seeking Solutions

12.19 is very low for a 12V battery. (Close to 25% of a full charge) You should replace this battery and see if your other issues go away.

ERG (?) valve replacement? Engine not charging battery?

On a previous car, the valve was only worth fifty pounds UK, but the service cost approximately five hundred. That was because the location of the valve required the engine to be moved to perform the replacement. (Opel Corsa Beta). Sometimes the valves just stick, and at the time, people...

Why forced to change my password with 10 character at least!?

I can't speak for the admins, but... I believe we've had issues with old accounts being taken over by spammers.

    Auxillary battery issue

If you live somewhere that underbody rust is an issue, you could have a grounding strap somewhere that is corroding away. (Modern cars typically have many). Best to get under the car and inspect all of them. Hopefully other members can let you know the location of the straps.

ERG (?) valve replacement? Engine not charging battery?

Are you referring to the Exhaust Gas Return (EGR) valve? It is possible to clean them, but it is an elaborate job and may require the use of a scan tool to reset the ECU. https://www.dubizzle.com/blog/cars/clean-egr-valve/ Note that driving the car with a faulty EGR valve can lead to damage...

Erm... What is 'learning mode' ?

Preferred long -range mode, and a question:

Hi there! There has been a bit of talk about the radio glitching. Please have a look at this thread: https://www.myoutlanderphev.com/threads/radio-turns-on-by-itself-2024-le.6527/

    Trip meter set up

Well... On my model, there is a button in the bank next to the steering wheel, that is marked with overlapping rectangles. Mitsubishi call that button the 'multi information display' button. When the car is turned off, pressing that button displays (each press takes you to the next page): 1...

Auto Temperature Control and A/C mode- Outlander 2023 PHEV

Are you running the car in ECO mode? Air-conditioning is one of the things ECO mode affects.
