An idea for solar charging without extra batteries

We may be talking about different things. I'm talking about the average production of the panels, you seem to be comparing that to peak production of a larger set of panels. My system is a 1.5 kW system, which, is eight 188W panels (if I recall correctly). The system generates a full 1.5 kW...

An idea for solar charging without extra batteries

Hi Nicolas, I don't think the physics of solar panels will be your friend in this regard. I have 8 solar panels on the roof, and an inverter. (A 1.5 kW, grid-connected system). The solar panels generate, on average, 5 kWh per day, and take two days to charge the battery from 'empty'. One...

Road trip power loss on zero EV

I'm assuming low mileage, like mine. I was surprised to see 48 on the guess-ometer last week, because it is still reasonably cold here at the moment.

    Password for wifi.

Assuming your car has a working 'remote module' you should be able to find it with a commercial ODBDII scanner. If you don't have a scanner, go back to the dealer or a modern, competent, mechanic. Note that there are models that don't have the remote module, and therefore can't do the wifi stuff.

What does a new owner need to know?

The car is serviced annually. I haven't had to change the oil. (Checked it a zillion times, but it has never needed any.) In my case, the lion's share of driving is EV.

Road trip power loss on zero EV

I think we have the same model, and I haven't seen this behaviour. Are you saying at zero battery AND zero fuel? I've seen members talking about 'limp home' or 'turtle' mode, which is triggered by zero power and very low fuel. Could that be what you are seeing?

    1500 watt plug

The other factor with AC and the engine starting, is the difference between your target temperature, and the current temperature in the car. If that difference is over a particular value (sorry I don't know what the value is) the engine will always start.

What does a new owner need to know?

Re the paddles, well, you can, but there is no need to. Using the brake pedal always uses regeneration first, if there is any room in the battery. Changing the 'B' level changes how much the regenerative braking is applied as you lift your foot off the accelerator. If you're on a long...

    Transmission fluid change.

You should be able to see the published maintenance schedule for your car on a Mitsubishi website for your country. For example: https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/content/dam/mmal/pdfs/maintenance-schedules/OUTLANDER-PHEV-21MY_Maintenance%20Schedule.pdf You should check front and rear...

What does a new owner need to know?

Creep mode is definitely a feature. Teslas have the ability to turn it on or off. I mainly use it for parking and reversing up my driveway. It's another variation of one-pedal driving, it turns off when you press the brake, on on again when you release. I believe it can be turned off in some...

Bought a used 2022 outlander PHEV - Is it possible to apply V2L adapter for AC 120v home appliances?

Really? I've found the PHEV to be the easiest car to own yet. I put water in the washer bottle, air in the tyres, petrol in the tank twice per year and plug it in whenever it needs a charge, (once per week with my current usage). It gets a yearly service from Mitsubishi. My advice to new...

    2014 Outlander Upgrade sound system

If you're of a technical bent, you should look at the product range from 'Mini DSP'. https://www.minidsp.com/ (Or find an audio supplier that uses them as part of their install.) You can configure them into quite complex crossover setups to manage sets of speakers. I have one in my lounge...

What does a new owner need to know?

Not quite. Regenerative braking happens when you lift your foot off the accelerator. It doesn't do anything while you are accelerating. The 'B' levels, affect the maximum amount of regeneration applied when you lift your foot, and also how far 'up' the accelerator pedal has to be before...

    Stiff ride

When you say 'stiff' are you referring to hard suspension bouncing you around or resistance in turning the wheel? If it is the latter, that could be an indication of under-inflated tyres. At the recommendation of the tyre supplier, I run mine at 41 psi, and steering is noticeably lighter. NB...

What does a new owner need to know?

Hi there! :) When I'm driving around in the suburbs, which is most of my driving, I usually set the regenerative braking to B5. This means that I rarely use the brake pedal, unless I'm coming to a complete stop, most commonly at a traffic light. (The fast way to get to B5 is to hold the...

My Outlander saved my ice cream!

Woot! I'm so jealous that mine cannot do this.

What does a new owner need to know?

That varies by model year I believe. On my car, no, on recent models, yes. Unfortunately I don't know when that was changed. When it was discussed on the forum, members pointed out that the brake lights don't come on when other manual vehicles perform 'engine braking' and that the PHEV's...

    B5 default?

:) On my model, it makes the 'cylon sound' a semi-musical woobly-woobly sound at low speeds. You can turn it off with a switch on the Dashboard.

Is an aftermarket head unit a solution?

You've already put your finger on the downside. The Mitsi head unit has proprietary software that runs on the head unit to communicate with the car. All of that functionality will be gone if your replace that computer. (i.e. all of the monitoring displays, timers, telephone book, address book...
