    sim tray

Hi Molly, I've had a look around, and SIM card trays are pretty simple devices and should be replaceable, but you need to know the device details to get the right tray. (i.e. the details of the head unit that takes the SIM card tray.) I think you should take your car to an auto-electronics...

growling noise coming from engine bay, but its not the engine

It could be an acoustical vehicle alerting system (AVAS) either original or an after market version. See this for example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007089979897.html It sounds like it is simulating engine revs. If you find yourself an nice empty parking area, you and a friend could...

Rattling Noise Inside Rear of PHEV – Need Advice

Have you removed both hatch covers in the floor of the boot? (The rear one opens easily, but the front needs a little more help. Otherwise, you could try look inside the panels via the access hatches on the side walls. To isolate the location, you could try get someone to ride in the back...

    Charge mode?

Agreed. If you want to save fuel, pump the tyres up and drive slower, and less aggressively. (And don't stick extra bits on the car). :) It would be fun to run tests to see if smooth wheel covers and under-body smoothing improved fuel efficiency, but I'll leave those things for others.

    Charge mode?

Another reason to use charge mode, is if you're expecting to need a sudden burst of power. For example if you are about to overtake someone on the highway, or if you need a quick start from the lights, because you can see that your lane ends further ahead. The car will start the engine any...

    Hello

Since you've just acquired the car, it's worth having a good look in the boot boxes to see what else is missing. (Note that there are two sections, one near the seat and one near the door.) Also worth checking the tool kit (a lid on the side wall at the rear on my model) to see what is missing...

    Warning sound

Hmm... I should check if mine makes the quiet 'oobly-oobly' sound (AKA the Cylon sound) when I'm in reverse. (i.e. the sound it makes going forward up to 60 km/h). It's very hard to hear from inside the vehicle, so will have to enlist support. But it definitely doesn't make the kind of sound...

    Finding "energy flow" on screen

There is a button on the Dashboard near the steering wheel. (Not the buttons in the centre of the Dashboard.) It's on the right hand side of the steering wheel for right hand drive cars, or on the left for left hand drive like this: That button is marked with a couple of overlapping...

    Warning sound

I don't have one either. It is probably something that varies by year and country of first sale.

    Power Liftgate User Manual

If you are using the dashboard control, press and hold the button for one second. If you are using the keyfob, press the button twice in quick succession.

    Charge mode?

I think the only circumstances I can imagine, would be if you expect a long downhill at the end of your journey, or if you're going to be in a situation where you can charge at the end of your journey. For example, if you are crossing a mountain range, but have a long descent into your sea-side...

    Portable charger not working

Check the vehicle to make sure that no charging timers have been set up. This is done via the app, or via the in-dash computer (if you have one). If timers have been set up, the vehicle will not charge outside of those times. Failing that, it's time to inspect and test all the onboard...

Battery life span will not be affected by PHEV mode selection?

Using charge mode will slightly decrease the life of the battery, but it shuts off at 80% of user-space charge. Charge mode is equivalent to a fast charge. The batteries have a fixed amount of charge/discharge cycles, but... ... running the battery to zero before recharging it, makes the...

‘Charge mode’ - is that bad for the battery?

The size of a solar system depends on the slope, size and direction of your roof and your expected power requirements, which depend on the size of your family and how you currently use appliances, lighting, etc. Consult a solar installer, tell them you want to be able to charge your car every...

It takes 3.2lts of petrol to charge the battery in my Phev.

The vehicle software manages the amount you can charge the battery, so you don't need to restrict to 80%. Unless of course, you go to elaborate lengths to defeat the software with various 'methods'.

PHEV for Australian camping, light offroad

I have noticed the current advertising campaigns, so suspect that the latest model has been beefed up for off-road work. However, the places that they're driving, don't really look like off-road tracks, so I would probably continue to be cautious, until I see a review by one of the four wheel...

Rear view camera - changed angle

There is a hidden 'service' menu, in vehicles fitted with the MMCS computer screen. That allows you to adjust the parking guidelines in the video feed. There may be other camera functions in there.

Won't run in EV mode after fast charging

Like you, my first thought is that fast charging is over-heating the battery, and therefore you have reduced power until it cools down. Took me a while, but I found this in the manual for mine:

What happens if I drive under EV mode for several months?

Note that the car will force you to run fuel through the system/the engine if you do not do so. This is to keep everything lubricated, and to stop fuel from going stale in the fuel tank. That process is triggered every six months for some models, and possibly every three months for others...

An idea for solar charging without extra batteries

If you only want to charge up the 12V battery, there are panels that plug into the cigarette lighter and act as a trickle charger.
