Real SOH vs BMS reported SOH.

There are companies that updgrade the batteries now, one is even active on this forum. :)

Bit of a 12v AGM dilemma

The user manual for my 2014 only offers the engine fuse box method for externally charging the auxiliary battery. (Terminal post with a flip up cover in the fuse box, and a metal bracket on the cooling system overflow bottle (I think that's what it is) for for ground). 12.3 sounds fine for the...

    Hybrid fault

Is our model supposed to come on at 75? I'm looking at the manual to see what speed is indicated, and it just says this: I think I have only seen parallel mode at 80 kph and above.

    Erm... Should that be 25?

Don't tell her about the five leaf display!

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

"There is not much torque until the motor starts spinning!" That's unusual. I've seen many, many people stating that the benefit of electric motors is that you have maximum torque at 0 rpm.

Do the 2023 to 2025 Outlander PHEVs with the Heat Pump, still use a PTC Heater for the Cab?

Ah, that would make sense. Heat sink on the power stage of the amplifier.

    Battery incorrect readings

I like your thinking but would respectfully suggest that it looks like the interval it uses may be a little bit longer than that. My favourite example. Usually I'm driving locally, and I live on the plain fairly close to the sea. The area around here is really flat. On one occasion, I went...

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

I believe these things to be true. With the Outlander PHEV, the electric motors are the primary drive, and always are 'running', providing the motive power to the wheels. Once a speed is reached (I'm not certain, but I think it is 80 kph) the engine may also provide motive force to the front...

Phev range on electric - new owner

8°C is pretty cold. I'd expect a significantly reduced range if the battery is that temperature. Even here in Adelaide, I notice a range increase from winter to summer.

    Faint beeping

Yes. Completely normal. The only possible 'wrong' I can think off, is an after-market accessory that is wired up to continually draw power, even if the car has been turned off. This can be an issue if a burglar-alarm, or dash cam etc*. is able to completely drain the 12V battery (and traction...

Outlander Shutdown and won't start. Need to be jump started

My suspicion is that the ECU also changes the engine timing, and fires a piston at the same time. The start is immediate. And, as PHEV07 says above, it works in the same way while the vehicle is motionless. My experience is that the engine has started as soon as I touch the charge button...

    Faint beeping

Yes, the car makes a quiet beeping sound while the 12V battery is being replenished by the traction battery. This happens the same time every day (at 2pm normal time IIRC).

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

Since your model depends on the RPM at 100 kph, it's a good idea to measure that value. I would have guessed a higher value, say 3000 to 3500.

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

I'm not so sure of the above. The engine doesn't directly drive the front wheels at speeds below 80 kph (IIRC) so it is more likely to be a 'high gear' i.e. equivalent to forth or fifth. I'm also pretty sure it's not an 'overdrive' because of the way the engine revs while at those speeds...

2025 model year: CVT, transmission, or one gear direct drive?

I like to post this explanation of the GKN e-Drive when people ask questions like this: https://www.gknautomotive.com/en/systems-and-solutions/electric/multi-mode-dedicated-hybrid-transmission2/ There is a hydraulic clutch inside the e-Drive, which operates only when the engine is driving the...

RBS not smooth, shocking. Any ideas?

A few possibilities spring to mind. 1. If you have a sticking brake caliper, the combination of manual brake plus regenerative braking may be causing the car to brake harder than required, and this is confusing the braking system. 2. You could have a failed/damaged wheel sensor which is...

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

The main reason for the differences in the 12 V battery. 1. It's inside the passenger cabin of the vehicle, so AGM battery is required. 2. It does a different job, it runs the car's electronics, rather than providing the current to start the engine. 3. Weight. Increased weight means decreased...
