Does cell smoothing actually work to increase EV range?

What part of the World do you live in. I used to have a 2018 PHEV -GT and had no success to speak of. North American model specifically in Canada. Dealer did it once and Battery SOH increased from 60% to 84% but the second time they tried only went from 60% to 74%. I traded up to 2022 in...

Engine not driving the wheels directly

Sorry I had missed read your post. My reply was pertaining to heating the battery with a Battery Heater which the 2023 to 2025 does not have. The battery does not get heated much when driving the Electric Motors when the temperature is lower than -20'C, whether tge ICE is on or not.

Engine not driving the wheels directly

I believe that this was the case on 2022 and older Mitsubishi PHEVs. No longer the case for the 2023 to 2025. Let us hope that Mitsubishi Motors fires all their Engineers that made a mess of the latest cars and hires smarter ones when they manufacture the 2026 model. I am not holding my...

    Looking at a 2018 PHEV

What temperature are you driving in? If it is between -10 to 5'C, 20kms on a charge is good and should get you +30kms when the temperature warms up. $21k is reasonable. $20k would be better of course.

Yes It did hit -40'C twice this winter. ICE started without being plugged in but it cranked slowly. Interior heating was terrible. No issues at -25'C but cold. 2nd time it hit -41'C I did plug Charge Cable in but charging stopped at 75% Light showed charging but Battery only charged to 75%...

I owned a 2018 GT and drove it at Temps lower than -40'C or -40'F and never had an issue. When it gets too cold for the car to drive in EV Only Mode the ICE starts and Drives the wheels while charging the Battery. I drove it from Feb 2018 till Sep 2022 and never had an issue with the car.
