Mine works in the States, that said all alI I use it for is to check sate of charge, and will not subscribe when it's up. Really, what's the use of a locator that can't locate a car when your further than you can see it.
My '23 charge door is also iffy, sometimes it pops out, sometimes I pull it out with a finger nail, once I couldn't get it open at all (I'd locked the car first :), opps).
No updates for my 2023 either. The dealer said the only update was if your car is in Canadian type winter conditions, don't think you'll have that problem in Texas (well, maybe in the panhandle if it's a particularly nasty winter).
By looking at the frame "rails" I was able to find points that would handle the stress and was able to jack the car (to rotate tires). Look for points that would naturally handle a fair load, after all the dealer has to be able to jack the car to work on it too.
