Weird noises after driving

Hi, I have a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV that I just bought used a few months back and it’s been making these clicking noises after driving. If I drive on EV mode, the car doesn’t make any noises afterwards. These sounds can be heard even after the car is off.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thank you in advance.

Pretty much every car I've ever owned, the engine makes clicking noises as it cools down after driving.

Could it be as simple as that?

With the PHEV, it makes a few unusual 'clunks' after I park it, and a faint beeping noise for about one minute after I lock the doors. The clunks sound like switches operating under the car somewhere, and the beeping is a warning that the burglar alarm is about to turn on (IIRC).

Note that the car makes a number of clunks when you first plug in the charger, sound like something turning on and off a couple of times. I've wondered if the parking noises are things like the battery cooling turning off. (Given the temperatures here.)

As Andy said, hot expanded ICE components cooling down and contracting.
