Tailgate operation

Just taken delivery of my Outlander PHEV, all great with it except I can’t work out why the tailgate won’t operate via the button on the key. Anyone help?

Is the power switch on the center console in the ON position, page 4-21 of the owners manual?
There's other information on pages 4-22 and 4-23 of the manual of the conditions needed for it to be able to operate.

It's one of the stupid design by Mitsubishi. The dealer showed me that you have to hold the key button for a few seconds twice to make it work. That button has mood, I am telling you.

1. Make sure the tailgate operation is activated by the button on the dashboard
2. Push the key fob button twice. No need for extra-long pushes, but you have to learn the correct interval. This design makes it unlikely that you will open the tailgate unintentionally by keeping the key in your pocket -nothing stupid about it, just the opposite-.
3. If you want to avoid the Bleeping, use the tailgate manually by pushing the button on the tailgate twice and opening and closing by hand.
