Has anyone been able to disconnect the sound generator under the headlights?

I've put tape over mine to reduce the volume, it's way too loud and sounds like a spaceship. To bad they couldn't give it a quiet Mercedes Benz sound.

Where did you find it? I would like to tone down mine but can't find the speaker that is making the noise.

It's accessed by opening the wheel well liner in front of the front wheels. There are pictures (and instructions) on a post on this forum (or outlanderforums.com) from last year, other people have done this. I think I just searched for AVAS.

No need to even do that in Sarf Lundun, I've twice had people not looking step off the kerb directly into the bonnet - and that's with the sound! Fortunately, I going slow enough for there to be no injury other than their bruised ego.

Those posts are from 10 years ago. Presently, you can't even disconnect the speaker without the system bitching.

Presumably because it is now a mandatory requirement in most markets, whereas originally it wasn't!

Depends on the year I'd say.
My 2014 AVAS is inoffensive.
