Predicted charging time display

Any idea why the predicted charging time display appears --:-- always?

It will turn to dashes when it gets to under an hour remaining.

If its the fuel display in the dash it indicates that the batteries are exhausted. Do you plug it in and charge it up or do you simply drive it in hybrid mode?
