I use a Samsung Note 4 in My GX4h. the usb connection is only used to listen to music via the media player. the phone can be connected by Bluetooth in order to listen to music, or use the phone facilities to make/answer calls. the only way to make use of the remote App is via Wi-Fi. Connection is quite straightforward, if you refer to the 14 page 'Operation Guide' pamphlet which came in the wallet with the owner's manual. It is at the back of the guide.
Bluetooth connection is also dealt with in the MMCS owner's Manual, pages 213, and 137 refs, but it can be a bit more problematic. You may have no problems at all, or, like me, it may take a number of attempts to get it to pair. Once it did pair, the mobile phone book downloaded without a hitch.
I found that many of the problems that were caused to my using the note 4 with the MMCS appear to stem from having both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the phone operating simultaneously. Also, you should disable the screen lock, as it is something else that screws the operation up. There is a great little App available on the app store, called 'Automateit' which allows you to set up rules that will, for example, disable the wi-fi when the Bluetooth is enabled, and another will re-enable the Wi-Fi when the Bluetooth is disabled. Comes in very handy, and stops the clash of apps.
I hope this sorts out your problems. All these good ideas were found by searching through this very useful Forum.
As far as I am aware, the MMCS cannot display a DVD picture.
