Totally new to this. And still quite confused.
We charged the first time at home using a 110 outlet. (Type 1).
Today I went to kohls chargepoint (type 2) and charged for an hour. I thought It was supposed to get 80%. But it said I only got 3 miles. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I assume that your type 2 charge station is a 240v supply, in which case I’d expect the PHEV to charge about 3.5kwh in an hour (this is the maximum for the on board charger). That should have got you about 10 miles or more on he guessometer. The charger that will charge the car to 80% in 20 minutes is a Chademo DC Rapid charger (using the bigger socket under the charge flap).
 
If this is the USA with a 110 V consumer grid, the chargepoint might well be considerably slower than we are used to. 3 kms on the guessometer suggests as much.
As Craigy says, the only quick charge you'll get is through a rapid charger, but note that frequent use will damage your battery in the long run. - This has been confirmed by my dealer. The only car he got in with a sub-par battery had had this usage pattern - and Mitsubishi refused guaranty, quoting the warning in the service handbook. And yes, the car records the charge history.

There's no intrinsic reason why a 110V supply should not be able to deliver as much power as a 240V one. But I don't know enough about US domestic power arrangements to be sure.

The reason is the amp rating of the wiring/components involved with charging.
Laws of Physics are the intrinsic reason why 240V will always provide at least twice the power at any given amp rating but the amps for AC Level 1 (120V charging) are also limited to only 16A by design, while with 240V (AC Level 2) charge up to 80A is possible.
