Hello!
My Outlander MY14 have some problem with a flashing AirCon snowflake symbol.
The AirCon starts as it should do and on shorter trips, its no problem. A few times this summer, on longer trips (over 30-45min), the snowflake symbol has started flashing and the AirCon shuts down. If i wait about 5min and starts the aircon again, i runs like it should do.
The Aircon gas has been topped up two years ago and it can´t be low gas pressure if the aircon starts again?
Is it a clogged drain pipe thats the problem?

There have been a number of different A/C problems over the years (as no doubt there are for any car model) so the only person who can answer your question is a dealer but it could be low gas again if the seals are now leaking.

A/C shouldn't need topping u at anything less than about 10 years, so if it has been topped up previously it indicates that there is a leak above normal rates. Don't continue to use it as you could cause very expensive compressor damage. Take it to a specialist to weigh what comes out, find and fix the leak, and correctly weigh in the correct amount.

You need someone with a dedicated machine for electric vehicle A/C as it uses a different oil that cannot be mixed (due to conductivity of standard oil).

Mine had a two year on-and-off re-gas and subsequent gradual gas loss situation (snowflake would flash, then if i switched it off and then on again a bit later it would work again for a while etc...etc) turned out to be leaking condensor. No surprise there really, the condensors I think are made from recycled Coke cans in China and rot from exposure to road salt, rain and especially if anybody is too enthusiastic with the jet wash, as the condensor is located right at the front of the car. My Smart car is on its third condensor in 13 years. About £700 to fit a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV condensor at main dealer. Leak might be an O-ring or something cheaper if you're lucky...
