    Electric Car Novelty

I do not disagree. However with an ICE car, my spend in total was around £4000 sterling per annum. With full EV, the costs in total was around £700. Regardless on how good or bad it is for cows, sheeps and the likes, the savings is almost six times the costs of ICE. [figures are all UK only.]

You can get your PHEV to do in excess of 500 mpg, if you drive carefully, and frugally.....

Dear Geolog my buddy, I have a 2015 PHEV when UK under David Cameron offered home charging installation for £99 [now BP pulse], had zero pounds Road Tax, and there was a government grant of £5000 off my PHEV...just after I bought my car in 2015, grant went down to £2500, road tax was now...

Fuel economy at highway speed phev vs ice model

Dear Andrew...In the UK in the summer, we get about 22kpl driving at 72.4kph. At 112kph, I only get 7.84kpl. Same distance, but more energy as the greater the speed, the more energy it will require.

You can get your PHEV to do in excess of 500 mpg, if you drive carefully, and frugally.....

You are wise. For your requirements, you have bought the right car. You do need to refuel occasionally, because of the ICE, as with any ICE...not using the ICE for long periods will clog up the engine. The instructions provide that you refueled 20 imperial litres every six months. I did leave it...

You can get your PHEV to do in excess of 500 mpg, if you drive carefully, and frugally.....

Hellinurse, you are absolutely spot on. There has been research carried out on the temperature, and EVs and batteries [eg PHEV] works best at 21 degrees centigrade. That is the optimum temperature, just like any other battery. Too cold and it will use up more fuel and more battery, and too hot...

An idea for solar charging without extra batteries

You are doing the right thing. No it will not damage your car in any way, shape or form. Solar as it is with wind power is quite unreliable. That was why it never caught on for many decades, as the energy in petrol was the easier and more efficient way to move the car. We would have continued...

What does a new owner need to know?

Dear Mike, You are right. If you can roll without using B5 to slow, even on steeper hills without obviously getting an accident- this is what happens- When energy is transformed from one form to another, or moved from one place to another, or from one system to another there is energy loss. This...

    B5 default?

All these hacks and bypass...that is what got VW and others in flaming trouble....With the emissions scandal. Many of the German and other car makers have lost billions. As they say in Yorkshire, "Penny wise, pound folish". Also initially in 2014-2015, this facility to connect and control the...

Outlander 2014 Charging Woes: Seeking Solutions

I have noticed on this feed, that some even take their cars apart, experiment with it....some know what they do, and some are simply grovelling in the dark. If my car had such charging problems, I would be extremely concerned. If I had bought this particular car, I would go to high heavens to...
