Stays in Series mode at 70mph

    That's what I figured was happening :)

    Avon ZX7 Tyres - A Salutory Lesson

We drove to the Alps and the Dolomites twice last year, and are off to the Pyrenees and Alps this year. Our all-weather CrossClimates did us proud last year and I expect them to do the same this year. We did try winter tyres on a previous car, but the cost and hassle of switching them over twice...

    freeway charging

As a counter to this, we live at the top of a small hill. If we set off with a full battery, it means that the first few times we brake, the PHEV only uses the disks. As ours regularly get a thin film of rust on them overnight, it means that the disks are cleaned each time we set off, which...

Stays in Series mode at 70mph

Thanks all. I posted this on the UK FB page around the same time and got quite a few replies, but none here till now. It seems it's not that uncommon, especially of your battery's SOH is low. Mine was at 65.8% at the time, though a DBCAM has "recovered" it to around 70 (claim in dispute). It...

    extended range fuel tank?

The smaller fuel tank is a PITA on longer journeys, especially as it tells you to refuel with 10 litres or more left!

    freeway charging

The Guess-o-meter (GOM) guesses your range based on your recent driving. It will vary as the roads and terrain change. Ours is now around 12 miles, but it's been as high as 43! It's comparable to the mpg/range readings on a regular car. Would you accept those as the definitive answer? The GOM is...

    Comfort closing?

Unless you disable the internal sensors using the method detailed in the handbook which I can't remember for now. You're supposed to do it when we take the ferry, but so many people don't and you can hear their alarms going off all night

Burning rubber smell from rear or Vehicle when in charge setting.

This is asked regularly. Read Richi's FAQ and search for "burning"

    freeway charging

This is extremely misleading and fundamentally misunderstands how the car works. Once the battery shows empty, the car runs in what is effectively Charge mode way, way more than half the time. So saying Charge mode is somehow less efficient than leaving it alone is just plain wrong, as it's...

    Interesting battery range!!

I phoned our Mitsubishi dealer as our range is down around 12 miles now on our February 2015 95k car. It was booked in for last Tuesday and of course that morning the range was up around 20 miles plus  It dropped pretty quickly though. FWIW the battery was at 65.8% according to them. They...

    cannot connect phone app

They did update the WiFi on older cars so that it needs a 10-digit password to make it more secure. But the dealer should have given you the new password

Help! Parked in cold weather and starting system won't turn OFF

You can tell if you have it by trying to connect to WiFi when you're stood next to the car. If something comes up with the name REMxxxxxx, you have it. If it doesn't, you don't.

    Map light bulb replacement

On my pre-facelift model, pressing the solid clear plastic cover turns the lights on and off. You certainly wouldn't have much luck squeezing them. YMMV A 5-second search of youtube revealed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L8t2eahnlU

Flat Aux battery - getting going again

The 'B' setting has no effect on the 12V battery - regen uses the motors as generators to charge the HV battery. The DC-DC converter powers the 12V systems and charges the battery as soon as the car is switched "On", and the car maintains the 12V battery whenever you are using it. AFAIK it will...

Could you post a link to the one you got, please? We'd be interested in one when we travel in mainland Europe

Charging from engine when battery depleted

But sitting stationary and charging the battery from the ICE is very wasteful and usually unnecessary. If the battery's empty it's far better to simply drive it (if you can't charge from the mains ) when the PHEV will behave like a "self-charging" hybrid. Or you could switch on Charge mode, and...

Constant beep whilst failing to start

Sounds very much like a dead 12V battery, especially as it was very cold. Except that the DC-DC converter should kick in as soon as the car's turned on and the 12V becomes redundant, so it shouldn't happen. I'd still try connecting a battery via the jump-start terminal under the bonnet and see...

Stays in Series mode at 70mph

Yesterday it was sub-zero and I preheated the car before we set off. Within 5 minutes we were on the motorway, where we drove at a steady 70mph (actual) for an hour. The engine never entered Parallel mode, staying in Series the whole journey, even when we turned off onto slower roads. I tried...
