The true about battery degrdation in the Outlander PHEV

Pictures are quite clear -10% SOH after less then 20.000km -20% SOH after less then 50.000 For a car that was advertised to be able to hold over 80% SOH for the entire life of the car ... the data are far away from the Mitsubishi "hopes" Looking at the picture which include the MV19 ... it...

How to best protect your drive battery.

I hope the moderator step in ... it is not acceptable to allow one forum user to openly insult another one !!!! BTW ... insulting others is a sign of low IQ Low IQ = poor maths Assuming 52km = 100% SOH 6. 45.1kms February 2018 Battery condition was 78.68% 45.1km = 87% EV ideal range ...

How to best protect your drive battery.

Right ... no point to discuss with somebody that is good only on insulting people which have different opinion. Anyhow ... it is a fact that you did mis-inform people about the battery degradation You start this thread stating to don't worry about it ... that is in total contrast with the...

How to best protect your drive battery.

Just an important note If I make 1km in EV mode, with energy sources from my home electric network ... this km cost me 25% compared to 1km done with the energy coming from the petrol in the PHEV tank. It is a factor 4 .. which isn't that much irrelevant. This without taking into account that...

How to best protect your drive battery.

I think you like too much Mitsubishi/Outlander/PHEV for be objective in this subject. Yes, everything with time is going to transform and "die" ... the question is how fast. A car should be able to last at least 15 years ... ok Mitsubischi Australia decided that 10y is the life of their PHEV...

How to best protect your drive battery.

Prius was using NiMh batteries ... which have way less energy density compared to Lithium batteries NiMh can be stored in any charging condition as far as I know ... but from my old time racing 1:10 RC car and NiMh cells .. "expert" racers like to discharge the pack to 0.7v per cell (1.2v is...

    B0, B1, ... , or B5

How do you know if this is due to battery "age" ... instead of weather ? Now in winter our battery have much higher IR, so it is normal that regen is limited In a driving graph that you shared before winter, it was showing regen power above 35kw , and this as far as I know it is possible only...

So why do we have Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

I did refer to i3 power system, not the look :ugeek: A bigger battery will help not only on longer EV range, but as well on be able to provide more power (now it is limited to 70kw for the latest PHEV, old one has 60kw) ... as well, it will be less under stress and should be able to keep the...

So why do we have Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

My previous BMW 320d was doing over 50mpg at 130km/h speed If you care of fuel economy a diesel and a sedan offer superior economy Since we opted for a SUV ... I guess fuel economy is a secondary factor.

So why do we have Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

My why is relative common: - This car allow to make my daily commute in EV mode, which means spending 4 time less then using fuel. But ... the reason why I bought this PHEV, it was because 2nd hand was relative cheap, and it was a nice update from my previous diesel SUV The plus is an...

Motors still driving wheels while stationary?

Drivers can make mistake all the times ... engineers need to put this in their equations Now ... copy a limitation of a traditional automatic transmission .... this is and engineer gem  Luckily they did fix this for the newer PHEV ...

Motors still driving wheels while stationary?

Ohh yes ... This is one of the "gem" of the PHEV with manual handbrake If the car is not put in park mode, and no foot on the brake pedal .. thanks to some brilliant engineer which decided to copy the limitation of a traditional automatic transmission ... the PHEV power a bit the 4 wheels and...

    B0, B1, ... , or B5

Chademo on our PHEV can push around 16/20kw Regen in B5 can be above 40kw Charging on chademo is a constant and continuous high power recharge. Regen is normally few seconds ... but can be even quite long in a long downhill For what I have notice, people that use B5 regularly have got their...

    B0, B1, ... , or B5

B5 is perfect for slow down in the snow / ice streets :geek: My question is : does B5 can inflict extra pain on our weak battery ? I think it does not help for long battery live to use B5

Open all 4 doors with single FOB press?

My FOB always open all the 4 doors. Is there a setting in the MMCS or WiFi Apps for change this ? I think it would be more safe to have the FOB to open the driver door .. and open all the other 3 doors if the FOB open is click again.

    US EVSE modification??

My Mitsubishi charger works fine at 240v without any ground or neutral line. But it does not like the Modified Sine Wave from a cheap inverter. As long you get a pure 240/220v steady sine wave ... the charger (mainly the car charger) will work fine. PS: Somebody was saying that the US 220v...

    US EVSE modification??

My Mitsubishi charger state that does only support 220v to 240v I did never try if this work with 120v ... using 120v vs 240v should not arm the charger, but it might not be functional. It is possible that the 120v works also with 220v ... it is all depending how flexible is the 12V DC...

    The GKN Multimode E-Transmission

Mitsubishi could have "copy" the Prius or Volt Hybrid approach, with an eCVT, and have somehow the ICE connected to the front wheels at any speed, and without the need to use any battery Still I think the Mitsubishi opted for have a more simple and reliable design (or maybe was more easy for...

Loss of drive power [merged topic]

 After 2 years owning the PHEV, I feel like I have aged 20 years  In my new PHEV grandpa view .. I think it is quite scaring if the car might decide to go into neutral on its own Still ... I hope jaapv is right ... so I believe it should be visible in the dash that the car...
