    Auxiliary battery replacement?

Hi David. I have bought a few batteries from Tayna. Good prices & quick delivery. The little YUASA HJ-S46B24L(S) is currently £168.98 + £ 7.99 delivery from them. However, the same battery is available from Tayna at £169.40 with free delivery if bought from their e-Bay store. It's a lot of...

Does the 2020 outlander phev have a OEM tow plug?

Here's the connector on a 2018 model. This one was not taped up & hidden like the 2015 model I did.

Does the 2020 outlander phev have a OEM tow plug?

Hi kehfunah. All modern cars that are homologated for towing have will have dedicated connector for a vehicle specific towbar wiring loom. Mitsubishi do not make wiring looms or towbars. If you buy a towbar wiring kit from Mitsubishi in the UK, you will probably get one manufactured by Right...

What do you guys think of oil extractors?

Been servicing cars for 40+ years. I too can remember seeing flushing oil but never used it. I've always followed the same procedure. First step was to get the engine nice & warm, remove the sump plug & oil filter. Leave to drip into suitable containers (washing up bowl from the kitchen sink...

What do you guys think of oil extractors?

My last Landrover had a built in suction tube specifically for an oil extractor. I guess it saves a lot of time & there's no need to crawl around on a cold wet concrete floor if you are just changing the oil......... Would an oil extractor remove most of the engine oil if it was stuffed down...

Buying a relatively new Outlander PHEV (UK)

As greendwarf suggests, an "expensive warranty required annual battery check" sounds odd. I cannot persuade my two local dealers to check the traction battery during the annual service. During my ownership of Mitsubishi Phevs, the annual service has varied between £200 and £240 depending on the...

Do the wipers still play up if you turn off the "auto wipe" feature using either the dashboard settings or via a smartphone?

Looking at roof bars and cycle carriers again

If you fit the Witter CL114 towbar, there's no bumper cut required. It was the cheapest way that I could carry 4 bicycles, but it can difficult to get access to the boot. My setup was; Brand new Witter CL114 £59 delivered Brand new Genuine Mitsubishi 7 pin wiring kit: SP042004 (Actually...

Front offside door lock button - broken or a settings issue?

My 2015 front offside door (UK, drivers side) external button also failed to lock & unlock the car. It was repaired under warranty so I didn't delve any deeper. However, it was obvious that the dealer had removed the door handle. I guessed that either the button or fob proximity sensor had...

    Replacing aircon pump.

You won't need to add any oil unless there's been a very big leak. ;) There's very little oil in there. About 70ml. Gas is cheap. About 550g needed. R134A or R1234 depending where in the world you are. If you have a vacuum pump & a set a gauges, it's easy to do it yourself, but of course...

    Reset TPMS

That's a genuine Continental sensor. I bought a set of 4 last year but managed to get a set of wheels with some good ones fitted already. Never opened the packaging on the new sensors.

    Due for servicing during pandemic

My car was booked in to the local Mitsubishi dealer for its 2nd service last month. The dealer closed on the day before. The service is now overdue and the 3 nearest dealers are still all closed. Read this on their website: https://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.uk/covid-19 My car is due...

    Outlander phev 64 dipped headlights

It is really very very simple. ;) You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves. We ALL know this.

    Rear Suspension Failure

I have seen plenty of vehicles with weak coil springs. Very common on heavy 4x4's like the classic RangeRover.

    Led light bar installation

If you use your car in a warm climate, KWh is quite correct. It's not wise to restrict any airflow. Do this at your own risk..... ;) I used an ordinary automotive relay rated at about 30 amps & secured it next to engine bay the fuse box. I wired it something like this:

    Led light bar installation

Not an issue here in cold wet Wales.... ;)

    Led light bar installation

Quite an easy install. :D Main beam trigger & power from engine bay fuse box. I shared the power tailgate supply for power to the led light bar. I used piggy back connectors as I did not want to cut any wires. Mounted the relay on the inner wing. The led light bar bolted under the front...
